With just over two months to go before the rally, who is planning on competing in the WRC Rally Mexico?

Well.. I would love to, but..

You thought the entry fee with the SCCA is high.. try FIA.
Then I'd have to get the FIA license, which I'm not sure if I'd get it in time. Not to mention the $ 300.00 USD (approx.) for maybe just this one event for the license, plus Doc fees for examen and such.
Take at least a week off of work.. FIA fuel money.. tickets for the crew.. hotel and transportation.. custom fees (NAFTA my rear).. and the list goes on. :+
But as I said, I'd love to.

Do you have your Super 1600 car here on these shores?

I believe the rally is still WRC and Group N, not 1600. Check out the site. I know someone last month stated on SS that they were swapping Group N for Super 1600, but the entries are open and still state Group N.

anyone with any FIA legal car can enter - it is up to the organizers to accept the entry - they probably will

Mexico and Germany swapped classes.
Super 1600 goes to Mexico, Group N to Germany.
That was the last news, but that still can change again.

I believe you're thinking of Rally Japan, which was possibly going to be a Production Cup round, but is a S1600 round (thanks to Suzuki, most likely).

Mexico is still a PWRC round as is Germany (which was a PWRC round this year as well)

No..
the article was about Germany losing the 1600 to Mexico.
Oh well..
That's ok though. I like either class.
So by the looks of it I won't be going to Mexico. :+

you guys shoukdn't beleive everything you read

finland was on the provisional N calendar and germany for s1600

they swapped but then things chaned again on dec 12

but that doesn't matter as i already said, anyone can enter any car in any rally

i.e. you can enter your N3 car or whatever you want.

In rallies like Rally GB which are over-subscribed, then the organizers pick and choose who gets in. Few were over-subscribed in 03. Some rallies, like San Remo, crank up the entry $$ to get rid of the 'fluff'. Other rallies offer huge discounts to locals, to promote the privateers, make it a big show for the locals, and don't care about the number of entrants.

I doubt that Mexico will be over-subscribed.
