Not only yes, but HELL yes! While in Detroit with CMC Motorsports I accompanied Dougie to Waterford Hills race track (1986?) where he used the Omni GLH in which he'd won the 1985 ProRally P-class title to run an SCCA drivers shool. The day went nominally enough and like many such schools they wrapped things up with a green flag start and several restarts. But then it started raining ... Doug made up several places on the first start but picked off cars at an even greater rate as the track got slicker. You ain't lived until you've watched a capable rally driver blow away sports racers and other pure road race cars with a 2.2 Omni rally car on pure street tires! The instructors I was hanging out with watching the show asked who the heck was driving the Dodge. "Just a rally driver," I told them.
Why the heck do you think I keep picking him for the Group 5 win at every rally he enters?
