Hi there,

As the subject line says (not wanting to miss any possible fixes of rally coverage), I'm interested which channels other than SpeedTV also show rally coverage ?

I happened to be channel-flicking past FOX Sports World earlier and was lucky enough to catch some FIA Asia Pacific rally coverage (on Cox San Diego). How often does Fox Sports World show rally coverage ?

I know OLN showed the Pikes Peak coverage. How often does OLN show rally coverage ?

And besides the occasional last minute heads-up here on SpecialStage, are there any other web-sites that give a summary of upcoming TV rally coverage on various networks / channels ?

.... not wanting to miss any rally coverage if it can be helped :9

SPEED is the dominator with 2.5 hours a month.
OLN, FOX, ESPN or others show very rarely any coverage if any at all.

Try OLN, HDTV, and ESPNx

Outdoor Life Network shows the Ramada Express International Rally, as does HDTV network. (Yes, Ramada Express was the first race to be shot in HDTV, contrary to what AutoWeek reported about CART's upcoming gig.)

ESPN (2?) will have the Pike's Peak RallySprint soon, possibly Aug 16, more likely Aug 22nd, but don't quote me on that.

By the way, I was once again impressed with the SCCA coverage, this time with Oregon Trail. Well done, Russ, Ken, Doug, Arlen, and everyone else. Keep up the good work!

Ohter Rally Coverage

Fox sports world has had stuff on before they have some behind the sceans WRC so it must be fairly often. Speed also covers the British Championship and keeps up with some other stuff on Motor Sport Mundial on Saturday night and Sunday morning but it is hit or miss you could end up with a truck race about every other time.

Fox Sports World had a half-hour show on the Asia-Pacific Rally of Rotorua on last night. It was on Comcast in Portland, OR at 9:30 pm. That is the first time I have caught a rally show there (I just stumbled onto it by blind luck).

I've just seen the Ramada Express Rally there, and some off-road desert racing.

Sandman's site has a good television listing, probably about the best you will find. http://rally.sandmansoftware.com/

RE: Ohter Rally Coverage

Hi,

Yep, sometimes channel-flicking or returning to unnamed or obsurely-named program titles (like just 'Auto') can be rewarding.

Like the other day on SpeedTV when I caught Tour Auto 2003, kind of a historic tarmac rally / social event in France with old GT40s, a Matra etc. and old-time rally ace Ragnotti drifting his Alpine 110 in fine style on tarmac. What a pearler !! Anyone else happen to catch that one ?

I caught the tail end of that one by chance. Quite entertaining to see the mega-horsepower cars like the Ferraris getting spanked by the 1600s and such on the twisty-bits...

..and for those of you with satellite coverage of these Canadian broadcasters:

CTV sportsNET http://www2.sportsnet.ca/tvschedule/
- English language coverage of the Canadian Rally Championship
- also rumoured to be picking up coverage of the World Production Car Championship (Group N) see http://www.specialstage.com/forum/cgi-bin/DCForumID4/328.html

RDS (Le Réseau des Sports)
http://www.rds.ca/cgi-bin/courses/rds?REQ=HOR&S=RALLYE+AUTOMOBILE&SPODIR=rallye
- French language coverage of the Canadian Rally Championship
- French language coverage of the WRC
...and:
CHAMPIONNAT DU MONDE DE RALLYE : HOLLANDE
Didier Schraenen et Jean-Marc Alcaraz décrivent cette étape du championnat du monde de rallye automobile.

I didn't know there was a WRC event in Hollande (Netherlands)!? Hmmm, must be a European Championship event.

Cheers,

it is a bad translator working at the tv guide place
someone translated deutchland wrong

FYI the RDS WRC broadcasts also include 5-10mins of PCWRC coverage (same footage, graphics, etc. etc.)

i just saw the 'hollande' show and they had some nice in-car bleeps going when we dropped out

Often I catch bits of rally coverage on "FOX Sports En Espanol" and DW-TV which comes from Germany. DW-TV alternates between English, German, and Spanish.

The shows on both of these networks usually only show a minute or two of rally at a time. Also, they show more formula 1 than rally.
