I just saw the Snow Drift entry list, and W.G. Giles is entered in a Group 5 Dodge Neon. He is an excellent driver and the 1992 SCCA National Production Class Champion.

He's been at a few Midwest rallies the past few years without a car. Glad to see he'll be behind the wheel again. Last time was when he wrecked a new Nissan SE-R at Ojibwe, wasn't it?

Ojibwe '93 as I recall. I predict he will be very fast still!

.... in the very same car Tony Chavez captured the P-class championship nine years later. That little GTI has been around awhile....

.... and that GTI is the same car in which Guy Light captured the P-class championship in 1987.

Hi All
Thanks for the Props!! Just a quick history SE-R crashed a Gold Rush after only 2 rallies. We Pulled the GTi out of the barn and clinched the 92 P-Class championship. That GTi has not had a crash and may have not ever been repainted , still has the painted on stripes. Guy Light sure builds a great car to last this long and believe me it has been driven hard.

1987 P-class champ Guy Light
87-88 ? Pikes Peak champ Guy Light
1992 P-class champ W.G. Giles
2001 P-class Champ Tony Chavez
2003 Rally cross and Ramada Int. Guy Light

and many other Divisional and Club rally stuff

GTi 16vs are great rally cars for beginner and experts

I jumped at the chance to get behind the wheel of the new and very competitive rally car at Sno-Drift. We ran a clean rally with only one long high center on stage 13 that time bared us. We did get out and ran the remaining stages but did not get a overall rank for sat.
We won the group 5 class in the Fri. club rally. Got most of the cob webs and rust out of me just about the time the rally was over. What would you expect after 12 years off.

I am looking at more drive this year and I am glad that there are still people out there who remember me. If you see me at a rally come talk to me as I love to bench race.

Light's Golf:

-John Crawford won the PPIHC Prod title in 87 with the Shelby Daytona Z I put together for him. Dunno who won in 88 ... but it was likely Guy.

Add to Guy Light's repertoire the New Beetle I now own and you can include:

1999 P-class ProRally champ Karl Scheible
2001 P-class ClubRally champ Mad Mike
2003 P-class ProRally champ Mad Mike
and later this month I hope we can add

2003 P-class ClubRally champ Mark Tabor

>We won the group 5 class in the Fri. club rally.

Congrats W.G.! And welcome back!

Good Luck later this month!!

I do not remember what year for PPIHC for Guy but it was a under 2.0 2wd class & a record at that. 88 sounds right I can picture the add that VW ran in the mags and it was also on the wall in Guys office in Michigan before he moved out to Reno.

Have a great rally!!
Thanks

Heck yeah, I remember you. Welcome back, and I look forward to seeing you some time, somewhere this year.

I'm sorry we couldn't get you out of that one...:( We did get your teammate out of where he stuffed a few corners later, though.

Hi Ben

I saw the write up you did on the rally and was grateful that you mentioned me. I think its been about 10 years since I last talked to you I will catch you at an event latter this year. I really liked the SR-T 4 even on 4psi of boost.
