After months of quiet negotiation, the American Rally Sport Group Inc., organizers of the Ramada Express Hotel and Casino International Rally, and Rally Promotions organizers of the International Cherokee Trails Rally, are proud to announce a new multi-year agreement with the United States Automobile Club (USAC).

The USAC agreement will include FIA listing for each of the international events through the ACCUS-FIA Inc. Listing and Sanction will begin with the 2002 Ramada Express Hotel and Casino International Rally in December and continue for both events through the year 2005.

The United States Auto Club holds a prominent place in motor sports history including decades with the Indianapolis 500. Along with several open-wheel sprint car series, USAC also sanctions the Pikes Peak Hill Climb and the U.S. Grand Prix Formula-1 race held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Mr. Johnny Capels, Chairman of the Board of USAC, also serves as President of the U.S. Grand Prix.

USAC will issue a formal press release to the media next week. For further information visit the event web sites:

Any details? How will this affect the possibility of non-FIA classed
vehicle at these rallies? Can I enter a sprint car?

Certainly the folks over on 16th street have strong ties/connections
with the media. Are there any benifits for rallying besides an avenue
for ACCUS-FIA sanction?

I'm surprized that the SCCA hasn't checked out this avenue. Everyone is screaming for FIA events in the US, but don't expect them to acknowledge anything other than FIA homologated vehicles.

Speaking for the Ramada Express International Rally and I think this also goes for the International Cherokee Trails Rally...

All current national rally classes and club classes will be accepted and supported at our events. The only limitation will be for the overall CNAR championship which is limited to Group N and Group A since these classes are interchangeable across each of the national boarders.

We look hope the rally community will support our efforts to present high quality, professionally organized events designed to encourage excellent competition between rally competitors from Canada, Mexico, the United States, and the best from around the world.

In the coming months we'll be making many postings to help our U.S. Competitors better understand and adapt to the different and sometimes confusing FIA regulations. Our goal is to minimize the impact these rules will have to our U.S. competitors while providing a level playing field.

We welcome your constructive input.
