This could go in world, or Canada, or Mexico, but I'm going to post it here because -- in a perfect world -- someone here might benefit.

World Rally News and others are reporting that the FIA is considering a new team rule, that for three (and presumably more) driver teams, at least one of the drivers must never have won a WRC event at the start of the season.

In theory, if the economy picks up and we see more three driver teams, this would open up factory rides.

It will just make team orders more prevalent. Joe Rookie leading event, then, bam, transmission problem, finishes 2nd by 3-4 seconds...

Not that I've ever seen that happen. I just must have been faster than John Buffum on the last stage of Wild West in 1998. Real shame that he had transmission problems and just barely finished 2nd...
