Anyone out there willing to take a beer or two in payment for making a tape of this glorious bounty (payable at next event I see them at)? I'have moved and am cableless, and I don't think the bar down the street will give up one of there 8 t.v.s to let me watch it.

Hi Joshua,

If you have a fast computer and a fast Internet connection, I'll be making available DivX versions of the entire season to everyone sometime in January.. if not its back to Plan A sorry :)

Actually, going to F1 Boston would be a good idea, resteraunt/bar and when you get worked up you can go for a run in the Karts, but damn, I am going to be in Japan that day!

The marathon is great, but WRC on Speed is a good news/bad news thing.

The "word" is that you can say goodbye to same day coverage of WRC for 2003. It appears that SpeedTV is going to a compilation show AFTER the event on wednesdays or thursdays. (See Brock Yates' column which states that coverage of Monte Carlo will begin Jan 29th, but the rally is the previous weekend.)

Also, on the discussion forums, "Speed1" who is some head honcho at SpeedTV, described their new and brilliant plan to bring new viewers to the sport and alienate current viewers.

Suggestion: complain like there is no tomorrow!

Oooh! Good idea! But will they let you drive the carts after drinking all afternoon? I've only been there once.

Alienate current viewers? Please explain.

That was tongue-in-cheek.

If you are accustomed to watching same-day coverage and then have that taken away, you are likely to be unhappy with waiting a week for the compilation show. But, if you don't currently watch it, then it probably makes no difference.

Pete
probably not.
Fun stuff though, I was there racing in an endurance race where they combined both tracks-big fun. I won't be able to make a New Years go at the place, but we should put together some of the local rally people for some friendly competition at F1 over the winter.

Pete,
Just got back from F1, and they will not let you drink at all if you plan on going out in the Karts (no surprise there), but I did get 40 minutes of seat time for a lot less than it costs to spectate a rally.

Here's the REAL news in this thread......

The simple fact that Speed carries WRC wall-to-wall on New Years Day should tell potential sponsors a thing or two about rally:

While fans of other forms of racing can be distracted away from SpeedChannel by endless hyped-up bowl games or a bad hangover, the US rally fan is TOTALLY OBLIVIOUS to anything else when the WRC airs.}>

The most dangerous place to be in America is on a patch of carpet between a rally fan and his television. Don't even think of stepping into that Danger Zone!!!

Our ranks may not be huge (yet), but us 'murrican rally fans are fanatical!!
