Assuming ZERO car costs, i.e. one set of tires lasts all year, what are the expenses in both time and money to run a 10 event nationwide series?
We calculated or guesstimated 40,000 miles total on the service truck and 71 days away from home. We generally drive no more than 600 miles a day before stopping for the night. Comfort costs you know. And it generally takes us 3 motel rooms each night. Based on this, the cost for just the travelling comes out to right at $40,000.

Since Juanita won't let me spend this much a year and my boss won't let me take that much time off from work, you can see that I won't be turning Pro any time soon. Unless I win the Lotto tonight that is.

Interesting numbers Richard;

I was asked by a client earlier this year to create a Works level budget for a Two Car team.

The travel section of the budget includes air fare, hotels, rental cars, and ground transport. (10 people)

Seven Event schedule:

Travel for Crew and Vehicles
Sub Total $87,396.00

Ten Event schedule :

Travel for Crew and Vehicles
Sub Total $124,380.00

My costs are based on a "hobby" team of myself and co'driver (aka wife) and two crewmembers traveling in a crew cab pickup. Added expenses are DVD rentals for the backseat instead of airfare.:)

However, your numbers show what a real "Pro" needs.

Thanks for the info.

Then you need a car, to keep the car running and pretty, and all the Misc and assorted sundries that go along with the above. Hmmmmmmmm..........Good thing that we have the Teeming multitudes worshipping the very ground that we walk on!! JohnLane

Pete Morris (building "Son of CoROLLa"). Those are the sort of figures I look for. But, I would rather stay with Club rallies. Not that I have anything against Nationals. If I could afford to travel, believe me I would. So I learn to live within my budget, around $500 a rally and that includes everything. Maybe I can get enough money to do the Doo-**** next year!

We did it that way when I first started this silly sport in 1979. Now I like my comfort. Being older than Mike means I creak more in the morning.

I sure don't want to anymore.:)

Your total travel expenses for the 7 events run so far this year have been about $2000. I count about 27 days away from home so far. I assume you eat something so giving you $20 per day for food, that adds another $540 to what you have spent already.

This is dedication and I applaud your effort.
