Well this weekend I actually began working on the 74' Colt beast!

Over the past way too many months I've been figuring out a front strut rally set-up as Colt rally suspension is a wee-bit hard to find these days.

I ended up gutting two production struts. I then found a Bilstein 40mm Inverted Insert "kit" that has the required stroke. I then had to cut, turn, machine the Bilstein bodies to fit nice and tight inside of the Colt housing. Amazingly the Bilstein retainer nut is the same thread/pitch as the Colt housing....M48 x 1.25mm...NICE!

I then welded on some threaded collars and adapted an upper string seat to work with 2.5" springs, allowing me to adjust ride height and use any spring rate I want.

I got these on the car this weekend and everything seems GREAT so far!

A little engine tuning/diagnosis is needed but the car will be ready to rally in Canada on August 16th!!!
