Team Suzuki Canada set for Rally of the Tall Pines

This weekend marks the final event in the 2005 Canadian Rally Championship and Ontario Performance Rally Championship and Team Suzuki will be there to challenge the field. "The Pines represents one of the toughest events on the schedule", commented 2004's P 2 Champion driver William Bacon. "The conditions are so unpredictable, it is a real challenge just staying on the road. Last year we had gravel, snow, ice, and fog so thick we could barely see." Bacon, from Chelmsford Mass, partnered by Peterborough's Peter Watt finished an amazing 5th overall in the 2004 event.

Often described as a rally with winter roads and summer ditches, the event has recently garnered a reputation of being a car breaker. Last year 13 competitors dropped out in the first three stages and only 11 of the 30 national entries finished the event.

With the P2 Championship already clinched by Georgetown's brothers Frank and Dan Sprongl in the other factory Suzuki Swift, the team is looking to better last years' finishing positions of fifth and sixth overall. This is a tall order as the diminutive Suzuki Swifts are giving up over 200 horsepower to the top cars in the field.

The Four Star Racing prepared buzzing yellow Suzuki Swifts have become a fan favourite as they pursue their "giant killing" roll in the ultra competitive 2005 Canadian Rally Championship. Come out to the event to cheer on the rally competitors and experience real roads, real cars, real fast.
