Here are few points:

2. Max entries 70 cars plus a few by invitation + 20 reserves
3. Total lenght 350km
4. Total of 5 stages, 95km. Stages #13-17 right after WRC cars.
5. Finish in Jyväskylä at the rally head quarters among factory teams.
6. Recce Aug 13 all day.
7. Prizes; 1st 5000E cash + big thophy. 2nd and 3rd nice trophies. Plus ALL finishers get a medal.
8. Eligible cars; 2wd GrF only.

- Organizer, Finnish AKK, will help with the license - ask them
- I thing this could be perfect for EricMeister, Matt Johnston, Jake "Almost-A-Finn" Himes, John "I'mNotCrazy-MyDrivingIs" Lane, Derek,Flyboy and others. Even Pat and JVL ( but not in same car!) to enjoy taste of WRC on the best and fastest roads anywehere. And it won't cost much unless you crash....
- It's also a great place make connections at top level in the rally world
- Need an other carrot? The Finnish girls love Americans...

Greg Healey, Keith Kreisler, and myself were there to watch last year.
The group F guys put on a great show, but don't be fooled, not all of these guys are as low budget as you'd like to think. A few older 4wd cars (Escort Cossies and the like) and lots of BMW's .
Per Carlson told us that the Toyota Starlets (yup) were all pushing 250 BHP and running dogboxes.

I am guessing these guys ran for fun and did not get a points for any kind of local/national championship... but I don't know for sure.

Well they weren't 4wd anymore.

All?
And as far as I can tell it seems most GpH in Sweden and F in Finland have been using dog boxes since the beginning of time.
I know my first real rally box I got from Sweden in 1984 was close ratio, non-synchro.

Is there any other reason?

And boys, if you are married, get a written note and leave the wife at home.
What happens in Finland stays in Finland.

Ex Finnish champ and TTE mechanic Ari Saxberg can also rent cars, like top-of-the-line 330hp BMW:
http://www.saxspeed.fi/

- One way is to buy a car and sell it after the rally or ship it to the States!
- www.ralli.net has many for sale, so has www.nettiauto.com (see under "Ford Escort", "Volvo" or "Kilpa-autot")
- One can do it for $ 10 000, professionally, if you don't crash (plus a trip, hotel, food, boose, nite life, etc). The cheapest WRC entry would be 5-8x of that in a 1400cc car which nobody watches. GrF attracts most of 500 000 spectators and many who only watches them!

PS. 250HP is a pipe dream. The best Starlets have 185 HP out of 5K 1580cc pushrod engine, which is excellent power and enough to win overall. As JVL said, the Finns (and Swedes) have used dog boxes since '70s and there's at least 10 manufactures in Scandinavia.

This would be awesome, but $10,000? That is simply not available to most of us American mortals.

If I could do it for ~$2000-2500, I would be all over it. I just simply cant afford that much.

Man, it would be cool though...
