CENTENNIAL, Colo. (October 15, 2002) -- The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Performance Rally department has named Sue Robinson its new office manager. Robinson will assume the duties currently performed by Julie Douglas when the office moves to Topeka, Kansas November 15.

The current Director of the successful California Rally Series (CRS), Robinson joins the SCCA National staff with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the sport. She will oversee all in-office operations of the Performance Rally department, including SCCA ClubRallySM, ProRallySM and RallyCrossSM programs

"I look forward to bringing the CRS support philosophy to the competitors as well as the organizers," said Robinson. "I also hope to bring additional stability to this still very new department. I believe ClubRally is the base of our sport. It is where we can cultivate new national competitors and new national events as well as all the support staff required. On the ProRally level, I would like to see more participation of manufacturers. I want to see sponsorship that will help the organizers to be successful financially so they can put on even bigger and better National events. The RallyCross program also has a great deal of potential because it can be done in a great number of locales, where you don't need a great amount of space."

"Being able to bring a person of Sue's caliber to the new national office in Topeka is extremely important for the overall program," said Kurt Spitzner, SCCA Performance Rally Director. "In addition to filling the shoes of our departing office manager Julie Douglas, who has earned a terrific reputation nationwide for her excellent service to the rapidly growing performance rally community, Sue will also be getting heavily involved with enhanced ProRally Championship and ClubRally program support projects as well. We think that all parties will find that the Topeka relocation of the national office will serve the community well, as Sue and I work together, and with the community, to completely redefine the way the Performance Rally Department does business."

Robinson has been a co-driver as well as an organizer. She, along with her husband Doug, has competed in International events such as the 24 hours of Mexico as well as in the SoPac region. She is routinely an instructor at the two rally schools that the CRS conducts each year.

The Robinsons have purchased a farm in Carbondale, KS, 9 miles south of Topeka and will move their menagerie of dogs, cats and horses there.

Kudos to Julie Douglas

We all owe Julie Douglas a BIG thank you for all the work she has done. It was always nice to call the performance rally department and get a friendly answer. She always provided organzer's materials in a timely manner and deserves more credit than she has been given.

Thanks Julie.

As another Organizer, Julie will be missed. She was MOST helpful whenever I called for advice. Thank you Julie for all you have done. Pete.
