... This is a good opportunity to show Speed how much support there is for their rally shows.

Anyone watch this? Care to comment? I don't have Speed ever since my cable company pulled another stupid stunt and removed it from the package I had been paying extra for.

I thought it was rather underwhelming.

1 initial e-mail on the subject, Johnson's phone call, and later a followup call from Canada.

Little E's "potty mouth" is the news de jour.

I'm not sure if this was a failing of audience interest, or just that it's a sidenote in the big world of motorsport.

Well, it was the lead story....that impressed me.

Weird to hear about "commitment" to the sport, after having just dropped it.

But, I'm HOPING that commitment will pan out as the SCCA hands the reigns over to RA.

I thought is was a bunch of self-serving Spin Control BS! (I would have spelled out the BS, but it might cost me 25 lifetime RoadRally points ;-)

Well, he must have misplaced his print-out of what you suggested as being appropriate because it sure didn't take that tone!

Does anyone care about this enough for me to make a mp3 file out of the audio portion of Mr. Johnson's appearance on Wind Tunnel?

The show was re-run this morning and I JUST missed his segment. I'm sure it will air sometime this weekend. Can someone TIVO/PVR it?

Underwhelming? Were you expecting a landfall of calls or comments?

I kinda do, but not if it's too much trouble.

Thanks Alan.

I think Steve made his/SCCA position quite clear. It was a business decision that had to be made. Unfortunately, rallying makes up a small % of the total SCCA pie and it's unfair for the other groups to absorb our increasing overhead.

Too many people feel that the "club" aspect of the SCCA overrides its need to at meet its fiscal goals each year. The real world doesn't work that way.

Maybe the reason people feel that way is that SCCA is a not-for-profit (tax-exempt) organization (that owns two for-profit (taxable) companies) and 65,000 or so people pay annual membership fees to be part of that club.

Look at the financial statements for the SCCA in your old copies of SportsCar if you want to see the "real world".

Yeah but its their own fault for completely mismanaging the rally program. If there had been any sort of effort to grow the grassroots base of rally, or had an organizational structure that would have made it possible to enact the sweeping changes that are required for the health of the sport, it would be a much larger % of the membership.

I think Wind Tunnel was an appropriate place. Lotta hot air coming out of Topeka.
