Have to Laugh!!!

I left the TV on after tonights WRC show and had the NASCAR news show on. I wasn't paying attention but the interviewer and a couple drivers commented on Speed channel being "The Rally Channel" :+

And did you hear Michael Waltrip's comments about Homestead after he got into the marbles, whacked the wall and dropped out of the NASCAR race Sunday? I was under the SORT repairing a shock mount and didn't hear his interview real well but he alluded to how he'd been better off running one those rally races he's seen on TV.

Anyone happen to have the exact quote?

This is not looking good. I can see the progression and mind set already. From real stage rallies, to centralized sprint stage rallies, to single venue stage rallies, to turn left only stage rallies.

I missed the Homstead broadcast but if the neck-car guys watch WRC this means or DIRTY little secret is out. Does this mean Hally will be seen on TV saying the Pirelli Parmelat Puegot ran great today!

Ken Schrader ask Michael Waltrip what was he watching on Monday night of last week in his trailer and Michael said the "rally channel"... "and that how I felt when I got into the marbles of this track... like one of those rally drivers" Gotta love the recognition!

Well even Rusty and Mike Wallace said to me back in Concord,N.C. when I bumped into them this past August..."we love to watch the ralliest on SPEED....that looks like fun! It looks like something we would need to learn how to do...it is not like what us roundy guys do every weekend. Love to watch it and keep rallying!"

Mike:

You can probably acquire a French co-driver from Francois Delecour quite cheaply.

Yep, remember how NASCAR got started. It was initially a bunch of good old boys runnin shine on twisty dirt forest roads (rally). Then it went to organized races on beaches and what not that were loosely circular, but not really. Progressed to dirt ovals, then paved, then utter boredom of NASCAR.

Yes, but he's going to behave like a dog that has been kicked too many times by it's owner. (Nice freak out session Francois!)

>(Nice freak out session Francois!)

Can someone help with what FD said? My French isn't very good (class of '74, doncha know), but I thought he was yelling "You're telling me too late! You're telling me too late!"

I don't know. He always seems kinda ho hum about crashing hard and destroying a car. He'd be a pro at saying "Thats Rallying" in no time.

Scene: Dallas Grand Prix 85 or 86
Became a Trans Am after the 84 Formula 1 Race
Location: State Fair of Texas

Track was breaking up pretty badly for the last half of the featured race. Entries included P. Newman and Walter Rohl sp? Walter had won the WRC for Audi and was passing the last few Rallies.

With the track breaking up Walter switch to rally style driving for the parts of the course that was breaking up.

The crowd on those corners went wild and loved every minute. Walter won.

We Monsieur, absolument!

Since I have been in Quebec the past few weeks, I can tell you he's saying: "[email protected]#*&#@% <scream> I told you ten times your late! Ten times <repeated, repeated, repeated> A Hundred Times late!"

But, you get the *jist* of it without le profiter de Francais!

RE: Parlez-vous Francais?

We had friends who speak French pretty well over last Saturday night. The primary phrase was "Trop Tarde" or similar. Too Late!!!! As you know, they leave off the last half of every word, so it sounded like "Tro Taa", with the "r" prounounced like the last sound you hear before a loogie gets hucked.
