Updates seem pretty light from Rally-America. Only mentions of the top teams and nothing of the INCREDIBLE PGT battle (note the see-sawing times on each stage between Foust, Langbein, Olson, LeBlanc, and Moro) or what's been going on with the club ranks. I like that the coverage is on the top teams, however, there's alot of action that really ought to be covered better in my opinion.

What happened to Matt and Ole (DNF/roll)? No mention of McElduff? How munched is Dedo's car (photos)? LeBlanc lost alot of time on SS6? Foust lost several minutes on SS7 while leading PGT? How are the conditions/temps?

Thanks,
Jerry

Hi, Jerry! Just want to make sure you are reading the "long" form comments @ the following URL and not the short version on the main pages.

http://www.rally-america.com/Update/day/day_index.html

(I just go to the home page, click >>>LOGIN on the far right, and then click live updates)

Plus, here'a a pic of Dedo - it's pretty funny:

It's in the photo gallery in the same set of links as the live updates...

Pinker went off on Stage 11.

Still no RA scoring updates.

SRTUSA may want to invest some of their enabling $ in some snow driving seat time. Their skills are apparently coming up a bit short :) Anyway, it's cool to the the Canadians dominating this rally again. Sprongls, Richards, ACP et. al. I guess winter rally is a bit like hockey.......

Rally Updates
Welcome to the Sno*Drift 2006 rally.

2:56 Stage 12 is just about complete and Car #43, the first car on the road has started stage 13, the rally is running on time.

2:21 We have started 41 cars into stage 12 and sweep is proceeding to enter the stage. Car 49 is reported off and OK, Med Sweep has passed them so their day is done.

1:51 41 cars have started stage 11, we have no reports of cars off, but the stage is not done yet, we will keep you posted.

1:44 Stage 13 is being set up -- car 000 and 00 are in the stage. Stage 13 is a fan and competitor favorite, with a great acute turn for the spectator area and residents who light bonfires for the competitors to race past.

1:31 Stage 12 our rather long stage is HOT, car 20 left the start at 1:34.

1:25 Car 606 did finish stage 11 in about the 5th position.

1:15 we have a preliminary report that car 606 is off and OK on stage 11, they are working to free themselves.

1:03 Car 0 has completed stage 11 and is in stage 12, we expect Stage 11 to start

12:41 Car 0 is on stage 11 and 000 and 00 are in stage 12 the second running of That Old Black River.

12:29 41 cars have finished stage 10, cars 16, 619, and 500 did not finish the stage. Car 901 is still making it's way to the service MTC.

12:05 We are working on cleaning up stage 10, quite a few cars off and Med Sweep and Sweep are working to get to the finish.

11:22 44 cars have started stage 10, car 16 is reported off and OK just past the start line.

11:06 Car 987 is reported to have finished the stage, and have decide to not continue.

11:01 Car 606 is reported nearing the end of stage 10 - the 25 miler. Car 44 is reported to have completed a "Triple Lutz" at the intersection of Growler Club and Black River and continued happily on.

10:44 Stage 9 has started 45 cars. Cars 601, 169 and 480 are holding up the rear of the pack, 44 cars have finished the stage and car 987 is reported off and OK -- we will confirm the car number when sweep let's us know.

10:36 Cars will be starting the 25 mile stage, That Old Black River momentarily. The stage start was delayed about 30 minutes due to the complication of setting out many, many, many worker and radio locations. The Stage is now Hot and Car 606 is on the road.

10:23 45 cars have started and finished stage 8.

10:09 -- 37 cars have started stage 8 and the stage is running smoothly. Stage 9 is also running smoothly with 7 are across the finishing line.

9:53 The finishing touches are being put on the 25 mile stage That Old Black River, and Car 0 will be entering momentarily.

9:50 Cars will be starting momentarily on stage 9.

9:44 The start of stage 9 will be delayed by as much as 20 minutes due to the gap between the first three competitors and the next, who started stage 8 before the stage was temporarily stopped.

9:10 Car 606, the first car started the first stage of the day, stage 8. Immediately after the start a resident pulled on the stage at the spectator area. Competition was stopped and the sheriff called. The situation is being resolved and the stage will proceed.

8:47 Car 000, Car 00, and Car 0 have all been through Stage 8 Jack Pine Trail and the stage is prepared to start on time at 9:10 AM.

8:34 Car 0 is at the start of Stage 8, the first stage of the day awaiting its official time out.

8:21 AM Jack Pine Stage the first stage of the day has been approved for competition -- reports are that the zamboni did a good job of solidifying the ice and cars should be able to make it through.

8:00 AM Temps should be in the low 40's today, and there may be occasional rain this evening with Temps dropping into the 30's. Right now the sun is peaking out and it looks like it will be a nice day..

7:44 AM: Reports last night indicate the first stage Jack-Pine Trail, a new stage this year, was a bit of a quagmire. Last nights temps were cool enough to refreeze the roads, so we should be a go, but we will know shortly.

Saturday 7:40 AM: Good-morning, Net control is up and running and the typical early morning scramble is underway. We could always use a few more workers and this year is no different. Dedicated Volunteers are out and about and getting organized to run today's stages.

9:10 Car 690 is out to the main highway, and their service crew has arrived so we are done for tonight. We'll be back online early tomorrow morning (about 7 am).

8:58 40 cars have completed tonight's event, Stage 7 is being cleaned up, so we are not quite done yet, but we will be soon. The early report on tonight's results are:

Block 52:10

Pastrana 52:17

Pinker 52:22

Comrie-Picard 52:39

Gillgan 55:24

8:50 There is a great pic of the first car to start today's event at the first corner -- check it out at www.rally-america.com

8:43 Car 21 is reported to have finished stage 7. Car 690 was dragged to the end of stage 7 by a fellow competitor and is requesting their service crew.

8:39 Just when you think the clean-up is done a report of a car off on stage 7 comes in -- drivers are reported OK, the preliminary report is car 21. Med Sweep has entered the stage so we will know shortly if they will be able to continue and be able to confirm the car number.

8:35 Stage 6 is complete with car 601 driving under its own power back to Lewiston. Sweep has also just entered stage 7.

8:24 The first cars have arrived at the final MTC of today's stages, scores should be posted at www.rally-america.com in short order.

8:21 Car 26 reported off on stage 7 has completed the stage, they might have a good story to tell.

8:16 Med Sweep could not easily extract car 601 so the are done for the night. Sweep is working to get 601 back on the road.

8:12 We have a report of a car off on stage 7 and everyone if fine-- we can't confirm its car 26, but that is the current report.

8:10 -- Our sweep crew tells us 601 is off on stage six, but may continue. We'll let you know.

8:06 Cars are struggling along on stage 6, car 480 has stuffed it lightly and is now back on the road. We have a report of another car or two off 2-3 miles from the finish - car numbers have yet to be confirmed so we won't guess.

7:58 Car 616 is reported at the start of stage 7 -- We'll have to find out if they were off and back on or if it is another car --- see trying to keep track of all these details is great fun!

7:53 Stage 5 is complete, with 42 finishers.

7:47 We have a report that car 616 is off and OK on Stage 6 -- we'll confirm that car number when we can.

7:39 we have started stage 7, car 606 is on the last stage for today.

7:24 It looks like it may not be car 20 on its lid in stage 5, but maybe car 18. Although competitors are careful to watch out for each other it is not always easy to see car numbers in the woods.

7:16 Car 606 has finished Stage 6 and is moving on the the final stage of the night Stage 7.

7:06 Car 606 has started stage 6.

6:59 Car 20 is reported on it roof on stage 5 everyone is reported OK.

6:49 Car 606 is starting stage 5.

6:20 We are re-setting the stages 5,6,7 -- the course opening cars are on stages 5 and 6 getting all the details ready for competition.

5:49 The rally - racing - is quiet for a little while. Crews are in Lewiston making repairs, grabbing a bite to eat and enjoying the balmy weather. The sun is setting and action should begin about 6:50 pm

5:33 44 cars have completed stage 4 and are transiting back to the Lewiston Service area.

5:23 After 4 stages preliminary scores are:

Block 26:13

Pastrana 26:42

Comrie-Picard 26:56

Foust 27:03 -- PGT

Iorio -- 27:15

Pinker - 27:30 GN

5:18 check www.rally-america.com for updated scores

4:51: Car 49 is reported off and back on -- on stage 3. 44 cars have finished stage 3.

4:39 44 cars started Stage 3, the two cars reported off on stage 3 have been reported as back on the road.

4:18 Stage 4 is hot, which means that the first loop of the rally will soon be complete.

4:12 Car 10 is reported off on stage as is a second car, maybe car 500, is also reported off.

4:06 45 cars have started and are likely will finish stage 2.

3:32: Car 774 is report off on a transit and requesting their service crew.

3:27: Car 680 was off and has now finished stage 1, Car 744 is reported off.

3:19 A second and possible third car are off on stage one -- it is slippery out there.

2:58: 48 cars have started the event down from the original entry of 56 cars. Several last minute withdraws have reduced the number of starters.

2:50 Car 77 - DeDominicis is reported off at the first corner.

2:36 PM: Stage one is set to go and cars should start on time at 2:44. Stages 2, 3, and 4 are in process of being set up.

12:54 pm The Radio Safety Net Control is officially open. The workers are in transit and stages are being set up.

Roads: No specific updates, there is a solid ice base and although it might reach 46 degrees today we anticipate good but very slippery conditions.

As noted in the Guest Book the practice stage is now complete, and all cars have survived. The Practice Stage raised over $800 for the local Baby Basket Charity -- Thanks to all the teams who so generously participated.

Sno*Drift will be posting occasional notes as we have a moment. Event Coverage is also available at www.rally-america.com, the Rally America site will be the best place to look for scores and individual team updates.

Sans called after finding out his Neon (car 49) needs a lot of repairs and he's leaving it in Michigan so the former owners can work it over before 100AW. I'd go into details regarding his opinion of winter rallying but quoting him would be harder on all those symbol keys than I care to put my keyboard through right now. ;-)

RE: Sno*Drift Updates from phone calls ...

Hey you guys should look at the times that some of the club guys are setting. Drozd in a 2.5 RS with stock suspension would be near the top ten even in pro and this is the first time he has driven in a year. Robert Borowicz is running really well winning the club yesterday while setting a lot of top ten stage times, Adam Markut and Jake Himes are also doing really well. I think it is really cool that some club guys are doing well and showing that it doesn't take a huge budget to place well. Drozd is going to be wicked fast when his PGT car is finished (maybe I am biased since they are my friends). Robert has set 9 top ten stage times out of 13 stages thus far a pretty impressive effort for his first sno drift.

Sans says that next year he will drive to Tahoe, stand in the snow in his driving suit and helmet, shred 50 $100 bills, and hit the bar.
