So, Who's going, I mean competitor's? I want to go, Do people want me there???? :+ this would only be my 2nd snow rally. What is the best way to fly into the event. I'm thinking Flint and drive the rest of the way.
I'm not competing, but I'm sure I'm going. I found flying into Flint & driving the 3 hours to Atlanta is the best plan. You can fly into Alpenia (as Ramana suggested to me), but it costs almost twice as much.
Last year, I flew to DTW. I fly NWA and SEA->DTW flights are generally pretty cheap on NWA.
I don't like flying to the smaller airports in that region. My experiences with Mesaba/NW Airlink have not been good. Plus, last time I passed through MSP airport, the airport newspaper said that their pilots had been authorized to strike.
What I want to know about the Atlanta area is accomodations. The place where Roland and I (as well as Bob Olson and team) was a real dive and I would prefer not to go through that again. Is there anywhere that still has decent rooms that is close to Atlanta?
If you look at the web site, you'll see that the short answer is "No". There are a lot of rooms available at The Garlands just outside of Lewiston. Arguably the best accomodations in the area. Pricey. Lots of rooms available in Gaylord(about 30 min. drive west of Atlanta). Plenty of decent rooms at a decent price. Also plenty of good restaurants in Gaylord.

I'd recommend staying away from the Sheridan in Lewiston.
