You can also try Traverse City, they have jet service. Closer than Flint, but not as close as Pelston

Last year, I flew to DTW. I fly NWA and SEA->DTW flights are generally pretty cheap on NWA.

I don't like flying to the smaller airports in that region. My experiences with Mesaba/NW Airlink have not been good. Plus, last time I passed through MSP airport, the airport newspaper said that their pilots had been authorized to strike.

What I want to know about the Atlanta area is accomodations. The place where Roland and I (as well as Bob Olson and team) was a real dive and I would prefer not to go through that again. Is there anywhere that still has decent rooms that is close to Atlanta?

If you look at the web site, you'll see that the short answer is "No". There are a lot of rooms available at The Garlands just outside of Lewiston. Arguably the best accomodations in the area. Pricey. Lots of rooms available in Gaylord(about 30 min. drive west of Atlanta). Plenty of decent rooms at a decent price. Also plenty of good restaurants in Gaylord.

I'd recommend staying away from the Sheridan in Lewiston.

Just want to second Joe's recco fo Gaylord.

Plenty of hotels to choose from, lots of ammeneties.

Allow yourself about 45 minutes for the 30 mile commute, but a fairly easy drive & tow.

For the adventurous and those on a really tight budget there are many little places to stay, but as said some are a gamble.

If you can get a crowd together the best place to stay is probaly the Thunder Bay Resort in Hillman. These are very nice chalets but it takes 8 or more people to make the prices worth while.

Advice: Make a reservation and ask questions: Are there phones in the room, when were they last remodeled, how many rooms total in the facility?

If you are at all concerned after making reservations send a note to one of the organizers and we will try to honestly asses the accomadations.

This is a rally after all, if its warm and dry consider it success ;)

See you in the Sno,
Mike

Contact the Best Western Alpine Lodge in Gaylord and tell them the Widget Rally Team sent ya!

You'll see their stickers on our car in January--we'll be staying there for our very first Sno*Drift.

yeah, no kidding. There are some pretty shady places to stay in lewiston. I think theres something in the water that makes it smell like eggs.

Jake and Silas Himes will be there.

Sno*drift is great for non-racers too because it is so centralized. A couple years ago I spectated at about 70% of the stages. ie, tons of pics!

not so patiently waiting for sno*drift,

something wrong with that picture

John-

What is all that blue stuff above your heads?

Oh wait, I vaguely remember. It has something to do with that round yellow thing.
It's coming back - you live in beautiful, sunny Cali-fornia.

And it never rains in Cali-fornia. No wait, I just got confused again (last time I was in CA was for Rim).

Oh well, press on (and the sky won't look like that for Sno*Drift)
