Beware! This looks like a real overseas scammer, that came up in regards to my rally car ad. Lessee, I ask $2500 and will be paid "$6000:00" ???? And asking to "refund [the] balance"?? The below was received today, and is going down the toilet unless someone trusted on this site convinces me that Mr. "Mark John" is a for-real English nut with lots of dough and bad spelling!

Hello,

Thanks for the mail and I will really love to get the 1979 Plymouth from you, So please i want you to remove that 1979 Plymouth . from further advert placement in the net. The price $6000:00 is very much okay by me for the 1979 Plymouth and as regards shipping of the 1979 Plymouth , i have a shipping agent who normally takes care of all my shipping consignments, so do not worry yourself about that, i will take care of that myself.

Yes it is My creditor in the U.S is actually going to be responsible for the payment for the 1979 Plymouth , and i have told him about this transaction and he told me that he will be sending the payment to you, he said the money i loaned to him has incured some interests and he will be sending my money to you with the commission, meaning you will be expecting a payment that is a little bit higher than the cost of the 1979 Plymouth Please after the cost of the 1979 Plymouth , can i trust you to refund my balance funds back to my shipping agent who will be coming for the pick up of the 1979 Plymouth ? do let me know this, cos its very important.

Please if this arrangement is okay by you, kindly send to me your full Name and Address so that the payment can be made to you next week. Also include your phone number so that i can give you a call to discuss in details. Also remember to include a pics of the 1979 Plymouth in your next mail, and do keep the title document and every other relevant papers of the 1979 Plymouth set and intact for the shipping agent who is coming for the pick up of the 1979 Plymouth Have a nice day and thanks once again for your response to my mail.

Best regards,

Mark [John]

I also have had this scam put on me several times regarding some Porsches I am selling. I already have a bad check and am waiting for a few more. Fortunately I had already known about this and they are all on American Express UK checks which are quite phoney. I gave the information to the agent in charge of this particular fraud, since it is well documented on the internet. These are all Nigerian criminals doing this by answering every high end car ad on the internet. I gave the agent the info, the address, phone numbers and where the people came from, the fedex account # and much more info and he refused to act on it because it was less than $250K and he was too busy to deal with it. I contacted the FBI office in Seattle and they told me the same thing. No legal agency even cares about this and so it keeps going on and on and on......

This sounds normal as these folks do not understand english well and if they see something that looks like what they want, they assume you sell it. If they give a credit card and have the three digit security code on the back of the card, then they are probably legit. I have sold alot of stuff to Indonesian rallyists. they have alot of very nice cars there and people with money to spend. The thing to watch for a counterfeit cashiers checks for in excess of the selling price where they want you to refund them the difference.

I need to know how this is a scam if they give you a credit card, the 3 digit security code and the billing address is the same as the shipping address and the processing company gives you approval? You need all these to process a card by phone or internet.

Anyone who did get that information cannot get a guaranteed acceptance number. My card company guarantees the sale as long as you have the code and addresses match. If you did not get that on an unknown customer, you are foolish. I dont know of any mail or phone order companies that dont require this info.
