There were posts on RallyForum.com speculating that Rod Millen would be competing at RIM. Any truth to this?

Will Rhys be running a new Evo VII at Rim ? Yup !

Will Rod be running the Evo 6.5 at Rim ? Yup !
(I'll probably have to pick him for the overall win)

It would feel like the 80's all over again. Rod and JB flying, Doug next and whoever was 4th way back there.

I think there would be about 10 super competitors now...

>Does anyone know the last time Rod ran a rally?

He drove a Hyundai in the early 1990s (before the Hyundai deal went to Buffum/Libra Racing) with Phil Berg as co-driver. Can't remember which event exactly, but it was in the Northwest.

'93 Wild West, according to my failing memory and confirmed by the results posted by our good friends at http://www.rallyracingnews.com

Wouldn't call it a rally, but he drove his son's Evo - at least once -at the Rim Press Stages last year. I didn't spy him until he idled past me after a run and I was about to go tell Rhys how much he was looking like his old man!

Then Rodney got out ...

Rod Millen has run Pikes Peak for years in various Toyota Trucks, Cars and Open Class specials. I believe he holds the outright record for the climb to the clouds.

I also think he ran a Hyundai at Pikes peak quite a while back. I'm pretty sure it was a Scoupe, but if my memory serves me right, ( did I just say that? I'm really getting old.) the car was converted to something really off the wall like it ran on CNG or something crazy like that.

Anyone know for sure?

I found the video and the car is a turbo scoupe. It was originally a TV commercial with Motley Crue's song "Kick Start My Heart" as the theme. I think it was from '91 or '92, but I am not sure.

So he hasn't actually run a complete rally event for almost 10 years. Just curious. Wonder what he'll think of events now compared to the 'old' days (as evidenced by a relatively old fart')?

What seed will Rod Millen get? How do people think he will do? Can he win?

According to the rules, he will be no worse than a seed 1. No, I don't think he'll win in a car he's never raced before in his fist event in 10 years. I think he's also going to be surprised that he now has 6 to 10 people to compete with instead of just one.

If he finishes, and has a clean run, I think he will win. He's still really fast.

I have to agree, depending on how well everyone else does (in
terms of finishing), I think Rod Millen should be in the top three.

How many times has he ran Rim ???
