The two minute flyer on SS9 didn't hurt, either! You're right, though. No one else was even running the same rally.

SS9 was SS8 run in reverse. If you examine the times for all the cars, then look at Pat's time for SS9, it becomes obvious that the 12 minute time is not possible (at least one poster will claim that the time is legit; there is no Easter Bunny). The seconds are probably correct, but there is an obvious, but perhaps not provable, whole minute error in the stage time. These errors occur from time to time, despite everyone's best efforts to avoid them. When a competitor gets "free" minutes in this fashion, he/she is said to have gotten a flyer. These were pretty common in years gone by, but occur much less frequently today. If it would have affected the results, the second place co-driver probably would have insisted that the stage time be investigated and corrected. Since it didn't matter, he didn't.
