Well, first off, I think you guys might get a kick out off the cover of the December issue:

And we've got a story on Chris Havas and his VW Golf, plus our usual rally event coverage.

I'm in love with the cover, it's so cool when the cars match the GRM logo :)

Woohoo!! My fave mag and my fave sport...

You guys need more in-depth articles about rally car prep though, not just bolt-on stuff like your Production article a while back, nitty gritty details stuff - pick up some old "Cars & Car Conversions" magazines and see how they prepped old Escorts and whatnot... articles like that for ubiquitous modern cars - like a Golf

On their web site, you can find guidelines for submitting articles. However, the level of "grittiness" you're requesting doesn't really seem to fit what they want to print.

Yes, unfortunately they seem to still be stuck in the autocross mind set sometimes. But I think (and hope) they are trying to expand and apply thier philosophy (cheap, fast) to areas outside their direct experience. They are down in the far far Southeast and it doesn't seem like there is a lot going on down there rally-wise which I'm sure doesn't help.

Are you listening GRM?

But, as Mr. Lear stated, it is in the GRM colors.

It's not grassroots, and it is not carrying one of their stickers - But it does make a great cover. I'm just glad to see more coverage of rally in any magazine.

I also agree, Grassroots is a great mag.

I spent over a year collecting info on the Havas Golf IV for the article in this issue of GRM. My intent was to let the reader know how they could duplicate that car.

Same with the article last year on Hurst's Mustang.

You should be able to learn something about rally car construction from ANY article on building a competition car. Many of the procedures and methods are the same as far as roll cage construction and safety items.

Great, I look forward to reading it!

By "in depth" I mean some articles (not necessarily yours) tend to say "go buy DMS shocks" when what would be more interesting is some sort of paragraph on suspension theory touching on insert diameters, tube wall strength, spring rates and ride height (gravel vs tarmac vs street), linear vs progressive, shock settings, uprights, bearings, servicability (re-adjusting toe/camber in < 20 minutes in the mud), etc - so people know WHY they should go out and buy the expensive stuff.

I've seen some very good theory in other sections of GRM, just not in some of the rally articles thus far. I can't recall what was in the Hurst article, I'll have to go dig that out. But running around with a V8 lump in the front has its own unique problems heh
