Matt Iorio,
Bill Bacon
Otis Dimiters
Eric Langbien
All did a great job to make it to the end of what must have been a challenging event.
Made the most of a long trip.
Too bad for Matt Johnson, coming so close.
By picking you guys for ProPicks, I think I did pretty good.
THANKS!

edit: add...
Looks like Colorado had a 100% finishing record and that's outstanding.
Good going Wyeth and Tanner!
edit again...
Looks like they found Matt's timecard!
Another finisher - that raises the average a bit, doesn't it!

Dave:

2005 Oregon Trail, 3 days, 19 special stages.

1973 POR, 3 days, 85 special stages.

Not quite like the old days.

(Not that STPR holds a candle to POR), but OTPR 2005 = 127 miles and 3 days, STPR 2004 = 130 miles 1 day :p

Of course, should we be stating TOTAL mileage or STAGE mileage (not desiring to start that topic up again) }(

OK. POR 1974: 3 days, 80+ stages, 800 stage miles, 2400 total miles, 30 days reconnaisance. Which of those is tougher today? Maybe the hours spent in Parc Expose.

This is not meant to belittle the game the way it is played today. In some ways, it is much harder to be competitive today than it once was. The sport has just changed (some would say for the worse, others for the better). I've personally enjoyed all of rally's various personalities over the years.

Wow. That is a bunch of stages. Photographers back then must have had quite a few 2gb media cards for their 6 megapixel cameras :+

Randy?,, I didn't finish? It's news to me....

Oregon roads rock... a blend of STPR and Cherokee as far as my experience would say. I wasn't trusting and using the camber as much one would learn to here after a run or two.

Cheers, Matthew

Sorry,
The results the first day had you MIA and Eric L. in 3rd.
I edited my post at the end when it got corrected.
Hard to tell what's going on at this distance you know.
Whatever you did worked better than most of the locals that knew all the tricks.
And your videos were up almost as fast as the results.
Thanks!

Just don't let me install it. I fried Otis's in-car camera hard drive at saturday's parc expose. :-(

Apparently feeding +12V to a digital recorder with +5V requirement doesn't make it run faster.....

Randy,
We were glad that those east coast teams come out here. It's nice to see the rally well attended. More of these teams should come to Wild West too. I know Matt Iorio enjoyed Wild West last year.
The last time I got to compare stage times with Matt Johnson we were both in 2WD cars. It was nice to meet Langbein (did I spell that right?). Frankly, to a left coaster like me, Mr. Kendall even counts as an eastern person!!! It was good to see him again.

How could I have neglected to mention Bob Olson? It was good to see him in Oregon too. I miss the days of competing with him when he was in the Porsche and we were in the RX7.
It was nice comparing times in Oregon with McElduff after his strong performance at 100AcreWood/TrespassersWill too.

To the left coasters, Texas is East coast yet we consider ourselves Southwest and, I am straight south of Minnesota.

Yes Jimmy, geographically challenged.
