Reading the rules this past weekend it is clearly writtne that LSD diffs are not allowed unless the vehicle came standard with one.

Except that LSD's are allowed in P4.

Hmmmm, this is a problem, because in the SCCA, you ARE allowed to install a LSD in Production.

I assume, that the CARS rule is to keep the cars "Production" but to me, that one modification would change the cars performance more drastically than anything else.

Has it ever been proposed to allow LSD's in P1-P3 cars? Just curious if this rule has already been proposed and shot down.

I find it strange that P4 allows diffs and P1-P3 do not. I'd gladly spend the $1000 on a good diff or just weld the stock unit to get 2 wheeled traction.

thanks

I think there has been a proposed rule change put forward for the 2005 rulebook requesting that lsd's be allowed in Prod. I'd like to see it allowed too, so when they send out the proposed changes for review, make sure you let CARS know you want that too!

Doesn't look like anyone has proposed anything yet.

A lot of people seem to figure that if "everyone" is talking about it, "someone" must have made a formal submission. I'd rather get multiple submissions with slightly different wording (even if it looks like re-inventing the wheel) than get nothing more than rumours.

Starting with the basic idea (allow limited slips in P1-3), give some thought to how to word an actual rule, and to exactly what you think should be allowed, and what should not. Active diffs or mechanical only? Final drive ratios to be original or free?

Also, make sure your submission includes some rationale.

Thanks for the info on where to send the proposals!

With a cutoff date of June 1, why would anyone expect that there would be many (or any) proposals in at the beginning of May? I'm still refining mine, one of which does address this topic.
