now confirmed, Burke will run AVSport Subaru WRX in N.
Final Start order has been posted. I don't have it, yet.

Jeff and Jim are at the event, I am hoping they will be able
to provide the text messaging updates.

RE: Start Order

Hey George, thanks again to all for the great coverage via wireless and on the forum. George, how long did it take you to get your seed? You had many great finishes. How much time and money did it take to get a top seed? Did they let you start with the seed 1s when you were a three?.... and ahead of most of the seed 1s. This is simply a very dubious situation....... if I were behind him like alot the good drivers in seed 1, I would not be a happy camper. That doesnt even account for all the excellent seed 2 drivers also in this event.

RE: Start Order

John, I understand the frustration.
It is up to the series manager to rearange the start order as he sees fit, right before the event. The SPEED FACTOR is being used to
start people. The SPEED FACTOR formula will be published in the 2003
rule book. Each driver will have his/her speed factor and the
traditional seed, but start/runing order will be based on the speed factor. The speed factors will be posted on the scca.org website for everyone to see. i don't want to get into the details of how and why this works, but it is based on a lot of old data and I think it will
be a good improvement over the current seeding system. I am sure like
everything else there will be some problems but we are ready to make any neccessary adjustments.

Thanks!

Thanks, George! I figure the pizza party is just starting so I'm hoping for some news soon. On the other hand, I know how tough it is to get info out during an event.

How come you're not running? I was sorta hoping to be at Ojibwe, but it didn't happen. I'll bet you wished you were hanging there too. Maybe next year, especially if the Audi is sold.

Rally on!

Hello from Bemidji!!!

Rhys was off driver's left - looks like he flat spun after a 6 right at the end of a long straight and wound up well off the road. The car was pointing the opposite direction but looked intact from our vantage.

Mark Nelson broke - maybe after a hard landing.

Lurch Burmesiter exploded an alloy rim that ruined enough stuff to end his rally on the first stage.

Lovell's car was abandoned driver's left on the last stage of Leg 1.

Lloyd went straight at a 4 left - the Subaru with its tail higher in the air than the nose. Had anyone other than a large 4WD truck accepted his offer to connect to their tow rope I'm sure it would have been a completely wasted effort.

Doug Shepherd nosed off the road and took a long time digging out. The roads were WAY slippy after the post-service rainstorms hit.

Mark Hintz bought some road points due to an extended stay at service.

Eric Seppanen's Pro/stage note debut ended up like mine did in Pennsylvania - chalk up another codriver who has succumbed to car sickness this year.

Jon Hamilton is having an awful rally. A wheel seperated from the TDI early and later he managed to eclipse my DMS-breaking record by busting one of their 50mm struts! Fortunately for Jon I had the LF brake caliper assembly he needed to tackle the post-service stages and I also had a spare DMS strut that his guys are outside swapping now (we're both staying at the Midway Motel).

Weiman and I are doing fine. I took to stage notes like a fish to water and Dave's calls have been solid as the rocks we're NOT hitting. It's freaking awesome how well the notes work. I can also see how a mistake could lead to a lot nastier off than one might have when not using them. More later ...

At this moment we're leading "Production" in every sense of the word - we're ahead of the remaining PGT cars and have a 4-minute-plus lead on Jamie Thomas who is having a very solid run on her first Minnesota rally.

Basically, we're having a great weekend and are planning to just maintain our cushion so I can end my beer fast this evening with a champagne chaser.

More later ...
