The Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame includes U.S. Rallying! The ORMHOF has extended it period for nominations for it's 2004 induction for a limited time. If you would like to nominate someone for consideration please visit their web site at
http://offroadmotorsportshalloffame.com/
and complete the nomination application.

The Hall of Fame has asked me to serve on their advisory board. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have about the orgnization.

The Off Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF) has been established to recognize and honor those individuals and organizations whose lifelong contribution to off-road motorsports has set a standard for others to follow.

Additional Objectives ?
Educate visitors about off-road motorsports
Educate visitors about environmental concerns and protection
Provide a history of the evolution of off-road vehicles, motorcycles, and the sport itself
Provide an interactive experience to visitors?reaching far beyond traditional static displays

NOT-FOR-PROFIT
The Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Board of Directors and the Advisory Committee are not compensated. Therefore, 100% of all funds raised are to further the goals and objectives of the Hall of Fame. A portion of sponsorship is tax deductible.

The ORMHOF is proud to find a home within the walls of the famed National Automobile Museum (NAM) ? The Harrah Collection. Approximately 100,000 visitors enjoy this legendary museum every year. The NAM has truly set a standard for automobile museums worldwide with its extensive collection, historical coverage, and in-depth interpretation.

The relationship between the NAM and the ORMHOF allows and encourages cross promotion and reciprocal marketing. Given the reputation and coverage received by the NAM, this provides an additional significant value proposition to our sponsors.

Reno, Nevada is home to the National Automobile Museum and the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame. A true tourist destination, the area hosts over 5 million visitors annually and is an easy 90-minute drive from Sacramento, California, and 3 hours from the San Francisco Bay Area. As many will attest, Reno and the surrounding area is an off-road enthusiast?s dream. Terrain diversity, accessibility, and vast amounts of trails characterize the region. All of these attributes provide a platform for success of the ORMHOF. We are pleased to provide additional information on the National Automobile Museum and the destination at your request.

It May include US Rallying, but John Buffum isn't among their inducted... If he's not there, nobody else in US Rallying has a chance.

The last time ANYONE was inducted was the late 60's. John Buffum had only just gotten his driver's license. Then for a long time the program went dormant until now. They are very interested in getting rally involved.

LATE 60's!
What's wrong with them?
We have a bunch of people that belong their.
"Ironman" Stewart (Toyota), Mark Lovell and Roger Freeman (Subaru).
And what about the guys in CORR?
I'd say they have a little catching up to do.

Despite the term "off road racing" it is definately on roads, just not as nice a ones as we get. Sure maybe the last time a vehicle went down that road it was a brand new Conistoga with four oxen drive, but it's not like we bound overland. They have rules about how far off the line you can go at most events.

Believe me, we rally people are just as off road as they are in the grand scheme of things.

Time is running short for this years nominations to the Off Road Racing Hall of Fame and it would be great to have someone from the Rally side inducted.

Being a personal friend and former employee of Rod Hall, he asked me to meet with him this week to discuss the future of the Hall of Fame and about including the sport Rallying. Information about the Hall of Fame can be found at http://offroadmotorsportshalloffame.com/.
Rod will be in LA next Tuesday to meet with the nomination board, nominations can be sent to him at the hotel as well.
