No room for extras, Peugeot boss warns
May 7, 2002
Peugeot Sport Director Corrado Provera was full of praise for the Corona Rally Mexico?s organisation after the team?s crushing victory with Harri Rovanpera, but he has emphasised that if it joins the World Championship, it must be a replacement, not an addition to the calendar.
TV rights holder David Richards likes the idea of a 15th rally and thinks it could be realistic if the organiser meets the travel costs for the works teams, but Provera ? who runs what is generally reckoned to be a highly efficient team with the biggest budget ? sees no room for compromise on this point. He went out of his way to praise the rally, however.
?All in all, the rally could be part of the championship, but if some little things are improved,? Provera said.
