Actually, for a car prepped that well, it is a good deal. You couldn't build it for that price (trust me).
As a reference point (the extreme top end of the scale), Stig's Roger Albert Clark winning Mk 2 cost about GBP 100k to build.
Historic cars are not necessarily cheaper than new cars to build properly. You have to buy all the same safety gear (harnesses, seats, etc.) Some of the parts are very hard to come by (e.g. ZF gearboxes for Escorts), and finding a good solid shell can be difficult.
