I tried, but I wasn't fast enough this time. I am actually interested to hear comments on the new sponsor. Sounds like kids toys to me. Do we all get Hot Wheels made of our cars? It could be good for the sport as the ralliers of tomorrow will be more familiar with it. Don't get me wrong, I think it is a great thing to have a series sponsor.

I agree.

Before Kurt, series sponsor. After Kurt, series sponsor.

Couldn't help myself. I'm trying to be "fair and balanced" in my SCCA comments.

I must admit to being surprised, but pleased, that something actually came through.

Hopefully more details as to what kind of promotion will occur and benefits to the competitors the deal will offer will trickle forth.

Hot Wheels are immensely popular with grown ups as collectors items. I think they could probably release some unique product that would be popular; I'm curious as to how it translates down the line for "us" rally folk, of course.

Ok who do we all e-mail at Mattel or Hot Wheels to say how happy we are about them being on board? It would be nice if they were a long term sponsor , so could someone post an e-amil address were we can send our well wishes. This is series sponsor that I will actually spend money on their product.

Hot Wheels! awsome...

Is there any word about when and where they will be releasing their new diecast rally cars? I looked around their website and found nothing. I think they will have a good thing once those cars come out... buying $30 worth of little cars I can race around my desk is more viable then buying an EVO (Would if I could).

now everyone has to back up onto the line, like winding the car up

I find it curious that the press release is dated 2/2, yet apparently it wasn't deemed important enough to make public until 2/6. The SCCA/Cadillac/Wanna Swap Moms?/Drifting is Kool news, however, gets immediate release.

P.S. So what's in it for the poor struggling organizers? What's in it for anyone? This information is totally absent any useful information. If this is like former series sponsors(nothing makes it past HQ), it has no value to me as an SCCA member.

On my desk (multiple variety of each): Hot Wheels Lancia Stratos, Hot Wheels Hyundai Tiburon, Hot Wheels Ford Escort, Hot Wheels Toyota MR2. All rally versions. They have been pretty good to us rally folks recently.

If they pay for air time does it will have value If SCCA uses the money towards keeping costs down for organizer - things like insurance and flying safety stewarts to smaller events that couldn't afford this on their own. When all is said and done this will be a benefit , if not directly then indirectly through increased exposure. Example; Subaru hasn't paid funds directly to our Rallysprint or our Rallycross program but I can tell you their involvoment increased awareness and both of the Las Vegas Region programs have benefited. We hooked up with the Subaru West Coast Meet 5 years ago and we use that event to pimp our Rallysprint as well as increase Rallycross numbers.
So as far as Hot Wheels goes I will be using them as a promotional tool , in fact as soon as I saw the announcement I knew exactly what how I was going to make their involvement work for our little Rallysprint. So to answer your question I'm using them to livin up SEED 9 Rallysprint.

Way to go!
Even though I am in Canada and it does not not affect me - Congratulations

I personally have so many Hot Wheels that my wife has made me take them all to the shop - somewhere over 500 at last count.

It would be great to see North American Rally cars as Hot Wheels.

(I hope they make a 91 Talon):+

"In addition to being recognized at the Championship?s presenting sponsor, Hot Wheels® cars will also be recognized as the ?Official Die-Cast? partner of the ProRally Championship granting all necessary licensing rights relating to the production of all SCCA ProRally-related die-cast and radio-controlled products."

I really hope this doesn't mean we can't go to, say, Gateway Global (AutoArt) to get die casts done (as Subaru did in 02). Does "granting all necessary licensing rights" mean a company can't get models made by someone else with the SCCA ProRally graphics on them?

I have the escort with the "Policia" tampo and the Stratos in yellow w/black interior on my desk at work, 3 orther variations of the stratos, a gold w/ green flame tampo escort rally, and the SCCA 'ProRally' Hyundai Tiburon at home. I'm still looking for one variant of the stratos (yellow w/ white interior). only the Escorts are out of their packages.

Anyone know of any other "rally" HotWheels out right now (SCCA or otherwise)?

P.S. I have an extra ProRally Tiburon if anyone is interested...
