And mine too. I think I answered for most organizers in that we are going to look at all options. This is what I told JB also. But we are also going to attend rallys based on the fun factor, and not the championship factor. First, I'm too slow and poor to chase a championship (3rd Nationally in G5 in 2003). And second, if it isn't fun, it's work.

For God's sakes, Jens! This is the second thread you've complained about this.

"Jens, meet ambiguity. Ambiguity, this is Jens."

We all get that you think "JB" exclusively means John Buffum, but no one else is confused or in the least bit bothered by these posts, especially given the context.

I consider both JB and JB friends, and I've certainly never heard JB express any concerns that he doesn't have exclusive rights to his initials. Nor has JB.

Cheers,
- JB

I'm kinda kidding, but kinda not.

Which "JB" would most often be clear, however upon occasion someone might be confused.

Do you mind "JBN"?

Count your blessings there is only one Jens.

Buffum doesn't know who I am.

BTW... the possessive for Jens is Jens'

Also, people are still using "your" for "you are". It's driving me to insanity.

Alas, that's not true. In standard American usage, a possessive apostrophe requires a subsequent "s" when the possessive is singular. The "s" is only omitted the the possessive is plural.

Thus, "Jens's buddy" but "The rallyists' hero."

Every American usage manual (Strunk & White, Columbia Guide to Standard American English) agees on this point.

Usage, diction, grammar, orthography!

You magnificent bas*ard... you're almost correct.

From Struck and White: "Exceptions are the possessives of ancient proper names in -es and -is, the possessive Jesus', and......"

Well, they don't mention Jens... but I'm ancient and consider myself the messiah...

Now, Halley, you can rightfully complain that I hijacked a thread.

Ah... the city of my birth.

Alas, I'm in the boonies of eastern Connecticut. (It's kind of like Ohio here.) On a good day it is a 2.5 hour drive to Manhattan. It's not an option for me right now, but I very much appreciate your kind offer. Perhaps another time.

Thank you.

RE: Too many J.B.'s?

I'll stick up for Jens. It's NOT what Jens call you, it's what OTHERS on this forum refer to you as. In the beginning (what ever that means, 2 years ago or so) I was equally confused. For those of us that have been around for many many years and know how heavily John Buffum is/was involved with things rally related, JB just naturally indicated John Buffum. It took me a while to figure it out and I felt like "complaining" also. :p

Edit for typo/spelling, because I do think it matters.

JB:

There can never be too many guys named Doug.
