Hi Mike

your words:

"Jeff was kind enough to grant me permission to share with
the rally community their appeal submission in its entirety,
something I think that will edify us all since there have
been precious few appeals in the history of SCCA ProRally.
So,as soon as I get time to scan/OCR it, I'll publish their
handiwork."

I understand that you probably have not had time to publish
this.. with attending the rally etc.. but do you think we might
see it here soon.

regards

Those are certainly my words made, as they were, before ignorant replies were posted that gave neither me nor my fellow committee members the benefit of a single doubt. Worse, accusations were leveled by two people I once mistakenly counted as friends, so you'll just have to understand that my wish to share some data from which many could have learned has been thoroughly and completely blunted.

I find it interesting that I've not received a single email, phone call nor PM in the past month asking about this situation despite the fact that my contact information is readily available. Since this has become a deliberately public "request" I'll happily announce in public that I have no intention to ever publish those seven pages or to ever again delve into the proactive release of information to which I have access. "Fool me twice, shame on me."

If you or anyone else want to use this situation to clamor anew about conspiracy theories or why the SCCA sucks, fine, knock yourselves out - I just don't care any more. I'm comfortable that my legacy as a driver, team owner, organizer, steward, mentor, teacher and rally volunteer is above reproach. If folks insist on painting everyone in an organization with some imaginary lowest common denominator brush to further a personal agenda, fine. Have at it. I hope you enjoy yourselves. I'll quietly do what I can for the sport I love until the nay-sayers find a way to suck out all the joy from trying to help and then I'll just become another user like most competitors are right now.

That is true, Mike. That is your option.

Regardless of what the actual pages say, is more of what the future actions are on the part of the SCCA. I see two outcomes that need to be address (exclusive of the actual appeal itself).

1. Is the issue of a "fuel only" stop going to be left to the organizer to address in the supps, or will it become an official line item in the rulebook.

2. Define fuel.

Can anyone comment to those issues? As it stands right now, our team is looking at some mechanical changes to the car that could be impacted by this "is water fuel?" stuff.

Before this (and the other related) threads get any uglier, I want to remind everyone to remain civil here. This issue appears to be dead now, so let it die.

Hi Mike

I made no reference to conspiracy nor to any of your fellow committee
members.
You brought the subject into the public forum yourself, and now you will not share data from which many could have learned, because two friends blah blah blah...

"clamor anew" I have never clamored before, I love the sport as much as you.. and regardless of how much driving, organising, stewarding,
mentoring, teaching and volunteering(and I have done all) I will never
consider myself above reproach for my actions or words.

The facts are simple;
No one has contacted Tom Lawless at anytime since Maine, to inform him or his team of the decision.
Regardless of how anyone views the merit of the protest to begin with,
the rules must be followed. Members of an appeals commitee should not go public and so openly support either party.

Plain and simple
8.4 page 76 and 77 2004 SCCA RALLY RULEBOOK

"The Court of Appeals will render a final decision within 15 days
of the receipt of the written appeal"""
...
"Decisions made by the Court of Appeals shall be in writing...

regardless of anything written by Jeff, as good as it was, is a waste
because the Appeals Committee did not respond in a manner consistent
with the rulebook.

Hi Jim

you are correct that the issue of not posting the appeal is
now dead since Mike has retracted his statement offering to post
it.

very simple resolution..just a shame it took 5 weeks to extract
