"For the first time, Targa Newfoundland included the Unlimited division. Topping the division are Ontario?s Jim Kenzie and Nova Scotia?s Brian Bourbonniere in a 2004 MINI Cooper JCW. In second are Rob Pacione and Brian Maxwell, both of Ontario, in their 1999 Ford Mustang GT. Rounding out the top three are Americans Dan Knott and Graham Fletcher in a 2006 Chrysler 300C SRT-8."

Score one for MINI owners!

Wow, not only did they win, but 1, they did it in MUCH more style (especially against the 300C), and 2, probably half the gas. Spread out over the lenght of this event would really add up the savings.

The Chrysler team did not finish 3rd in the Unlimited Class. The Targa press people got the press release out a little too quickly and there were some scoring errors that put the Chrysler Team in 4th. Rick MacLeod and I in Rick's Mustang finished third behind our Mach 1 teammates of Rob Pacione/Brian Maxwell. The official results are available through the Targa Newfoundland website.

The MINI was fast, especially on the wet roads. The wet weather combined with some occasional gravel on the tarmac roads made for some interesting moments in our Mustang with 610 horsepower at the rear wheels. When the roads were dry (which wasn't often), the Mustang was a rocket.
