I watched the trucks running at Pikes Peak on Speed. While the other guys "drove" up the hill, Mike "raced" up it. Awesome. The vantage point from a SuperTruck is much different than from a car, too. He can see a lot farther...over the edge.

12:45 in a semi truck is pretty cool.

And guess what?

Trucks and Bikes are supposed to be on Speed tonight!

Lurch is right though big rigs are super cool

For those that are lame and never been to Pikes Peak or watched it on TV before here are some big rigs in action in 2005 (PS Lurch don't tell Mike Gibbons he wasn't racing!):

And here are two of Mike Ryan flying at the Lands End Hill Climb in 2004, the 2005 event is this weekend and me and my brand new 20d are ready if he shows his mug:

Lurch:

And how about his pendulum turns into the open hairpin corners?

BTW, only six of the rally cars beat his time up the hill, and several of those by only a few seconds.

Is it really a rig? I would call it a "sprint car on a larger scale with a displaced cockpit."

Still amazing, though.

Not saying Gibbons wasn't trying...maybe he had problems...I know what that's like. Seemed he was very interested in blowing the air horn though.

Does it matter?

I think the Cab has to be original, everything else is free game I think. Build a sprint car like frame, put in an exotic tranny and motor and bolt a freightliner cab to it and have fun.

There's no doubt why the big rigs are one of the fan favorites, and the horn blowing is just a small part of it. Their parade down the mountain in formation was very cool to see too.

Pikes Peak Trucks & Bikes already played on Speed on Sunday. Lurch is forgetting Mickey Diamond.

Went to Jet Wars dragracing on Saturday. A jet propelled 18wheeler cab did the 1/4 mile @ 280MPH. Was wicked and way loud. Jetflames coming from the exhuast stacks and the heat it produced incredible. Jet dragster did 299MPH quarter mile. Bet they could go faster with more runoff area. Nuts.
