Well today _I_ finally got _my_ July Sports Car magazine and I actually ended up reading it as there were some decent bits on rally.

All of which meant nothing to me once I became aware of the prospect of Mr. Michael "Mad Mike", Halley, (a.k.a. Dr. Whooomaaah!) TAKING THE WHEEL OF A SENTRA SER FOR OREGON TRAIL!!!!!!!!!

My own Sentra, thats right, #535, just became a little cooler.

You should get that thing for Ojibwe, too. We'll be running the "Pro" event so you and me could just start driving like that bank robber guy from "O Brother Where Art Thou?".

Wow. I'm flattered! I am also pretty stoked at the prospect of running the Oregon rally without two thousand tow miles under my belt in a lighter and more powerful car than the Bug. But to tell you the truth, I'm most tickled that my only post-rally concerns will be to make sure someone pours me onto that red-eye flight to Dallas at midnight!

Excellent! Now I don't have to call and ask you to run Pro (the class needs subscribers!). It will be great to have you in the mix!

I'll be back in the Bug for OFPR, we're making a family vacation out of that weekend. The engine is nicely broken in now and I'm finally due for some new tires so I expect we'll remain competitive. Best yet, for once I'll have intimate knowledge of what the competition is armed with. ;-)

In the meantime, it's a plan to keep the OPC (other people's car) in the middle of those Oregon roads because another DNF is sure to ruin my plans for the season and further dent the old pocketbook. :-(

We were up putting some of the finishing touches on both SE-R's this past weekend. I wouldn't be surprised to see MM in the top spot in P class at Oregon Trail--he's getting quite a car! Of course, I will also be competing in the other SE-R, P class, along with sister Kristen in the Mighty Metro, also in P class...

Should be a good show, especially with some of the roads that were used back in 99, mixed with some of the roads used in more recent years.

Glad to be back in a stage rally!!

Yeah, the roads around the Vernonia area ROCK!! It's too bad we're not doing the Pittsburg road stage.... that was so awesome, flashing by mailboxes and waving at people having barbecues in their front lawns, spectating from their porches! :) It was a blast!! Fast, smooth, twisty road, and the flying finish was around a wide sweeping turn around a flat field, so you could see the finish signs. Very cool.

I 'spec that the roads this year will still be awesome, and that everyone will have a blast... We're still doing some of the Trask roads, though, and they're pretty challenging!

Mad Uncle Mike, we're glad to have you on our team for this event! :) You win the Pro and I'll kick Mark's butt in the club, eh? :)

Kristen,

Don't place your bets just yet. My crystal ball says you will have a difficult time being 2-0 with your prediction...

Its about time to stretch the legs of the Acura and see what some horsepower can do when you aren't in the mud. (warning to ben, I just made it rain on you...)

Both. The Vernonia roads are flowing, fairly fast, but the Trask roads are technical and tight in spots. All pretty good road surfaces, but beware hooking the ditches, as we found out last year: there are hard, big, embedded rocks in the road's edge, which love to pretzel your control arms, rip out your drive shafts and tweak your frames!! Thankfully, the Tabor Compound is only 40 minutes away...

I'm getting good vibes already - never seen the roads in Oregon and already figured out it behooves one to stay in the middle of the road!

Bring it on Trevor! We found no enjoyment at STPR running alone in the class.

Hey Trevor, if you say that we should see what the Acura can do when it's not in the mud, and then say that it's going to rain for OT, doesn't that mean that I'll beat you in the Geo? I can float over the top of the mud 'cuz my car doesn't weigh anything... :)

I still think a Tabor will beat you this weekend, Trevor... Chalk it up to experience of your driving style and Mark's driving style... :) And mine! :)

I've said enough already. I'll let the results speak for themselves. It will be the first of what I think will be 5 good events between Mad Mike and myself. Ultimately its where Mike and I finish against each other that counts.
