Saw it, Nice show, good visuals.
minus: somebody's 4th, somebody's 2nd, somebody's 8th...
WHO'S in the LEAD???
OTIS!
but no Otis interview.
Too bad.
Building a script before the start makes a strained show when things don't work out.
Probably better to interview all the top ten to be (more)sure.

Nice coverage. Some good camera work. Considering they had to pack everything into maybe 10 or 15 minutes of actual airtime I guess you really couldn't hope for all that much more.

Of course I might be biased because we didn't make the cutting room floor like we normally do!

They even had a few seconds of us desparately trying to dig ourselves out after we went off. The media and camera guys were the only ones around that could lend a hand. After an unsucessful 20 minutes of digging, pushing, and center-diff-toasting wheelspin the camera guy goes "well I guess I should get an interview while I'm here". Boy am I glad that one never made it into the show!

I am sorry Randy but your perception is entirely incorrect. In fact, the exact opposite
is the case:

The four drivers whose interviews made the 25-minute show, in addition to Dave
Anton's off, were the three drivers who placed first, second and third overall
- Tom Lawless, Seamus Burke and Peter Workum - plus Matt Iorio who ran in
the second place until the 18th stage, did not finish, but remained in the 3rd place
in the United States Rally Championship after the International Rally New York.

Otis Dimiters went off after the first few stages on Friday afternoon while leading,
rejoined the rally in the last place and in the end crashed at the Blind Pond spectator
area.

Ivan,
Given Tom and Seamus' finishing records, they were very lucky.
I'm not saying they goofed this time but it was a hope for the future.
This was a positive criticism, not a negative one like you always assume.

Randy,

This is entirely uncalled for and I do not assume anything:

You stated that "building a script before the start makes a strained show when
things don't work out. Probably better to interview all the top ten to be (more)
sure."

You were wrong. The interviews that did make the show were the interviews with
the top three finishers.

I really enjoyed it. My favorite part was when they had, I assume, a local official or somebody doing the cerimonial start and after waving the flag over the car he looked back and shrugging his shoulders like he was asking " ok now what?". Overall, it was great, of course I would say that about any rally on TV. I did like the absence of the "extreme" music they play on the RA coverage. Every time a Rally America event comes on I for some reason get the urge to "slam" a Mountain Dew and jump out of an Airplane onto the side of a mountain w/ my snowboard... but back to the topic, great show.

Emilio,

It could be either one show, that comes to about 25 minutes, or two halfs of
less than 15 minutes.

We had to insist on one show if we wanted the event to be broadcasted this month.
I this case, the production company had to throw in a short tape of Formula 1
practice as required by their contract with Speed TV.

There is much more material including other cars and classes, crowds in spectator areas
and interviews including local dignitaries that did not make the TV show. I will see
whether we can get at least some of this in the version that will be available for webcast
at www.revs.tv.

Neil,

Huge thanks to you and all the guys who made the valiant effort to extract us. I definitely owe you all a beer or two!

What we actually found out later was that we had broken at least one front axle at the start of that stage and this is what caused our off. The car just wouldn't pull itself out of the corners like it normally would so we slide wide. Sweep pulled us out and let us continue but ultimately we lost the other front axle, then the brakes, and finally the center diff!

See you next time.

The coverage was far better than OLN in my opinion. Too bad we won't see more for a while. SPEED did a nice job with the limited coverage in '04 when the SCCA was still running the Pro show.

If the RA's DVD was 40 minutes of each event instead of just 40 minutes total, I might have bought it.
