While the up-to-date guys are planning on the next move for rally, I propose the yellow shirts make way for those cool jackets, ties and hats that the organizers used to wear.
If officials need to be officious, at least they'd look the part.

I googled around but didn't find any.
If you watch some of the Legends of Motorsport shows on Speed, you'll see officials at motorcycle hillclimbs in the mud who, along with the spectators, are dressed better than people attend church nowadays.
(I've never typed or said nowadays before this, a sure sign of advanced age).

Of course at Goodwood everyone has to be in period dress, and on the Monte historic it is encouraged. We took that to mean contemporaneous with our car, which is to say we got tight-fitting polyester slacks and grew sideburns and wore Ray-Bans. Quite fun actually.

You should have some of that in your closet, eh, Randy?

Actually you wear Ray-Bans, don't you?

I'll ignore ACP's biting personal comments to say that on my first few trips to Mosport, the Clerk of the Course still dressed smartly.
I don't know about more recently as I haven't been in enough trouble to need to see him.

Definitely tuxedos are appropriate.

(Randy--I wore Florsheim Wing Tips the first time I co-drove for Anne. They were the only shoes that wouldn't melt to the floor)
