RE: Hey! How'd I get into the top 10?

Gee RZ, just cruisin for trouble are ya?

Let's see, I'm glad that I am listed as sharing the top 10 in Open Class even though I only competed in 4 Pro events this year...

Jens is rumored to be quitting the Rally-L forum (again).

Vandlandingham is now on the PRB... (and is building an open class Opel Manta 400 just squeaking under the 20 yr rule...)

The Tabors have all shaved their heads and returned to being skate punks (yep, that's where they came from...)

Oh, and AV Sport will be representing Subaru in the Pro series next year with stiff competition from the Pontiac Vibe factory team...

Is that good enough?

Pe

ps. and Jamie got out of cow pattie just like me, by shoveling and pushing until she got that car up to the top of the hill, 'cept she was smart enough to keep on going....

RE: Hey! How come I missed the top 10?

Good start Paul, there must be some controversy starter in there somewhere.
I'm goin' up north this weekend to Tall Pines to see what dis-harmony I can import from down here. Everything in Canook-land is all rosy and happy. Cheap entries, frenchies and anglos that like each other. Good scoring. Good beer and even the entry of a home-grown hero just a week after his WRC debut @ Rally GB. Its all so sickeningly good.
I'll report the truth about all that "niceness" next week.

RE: Zimmer!

Well I'm bored too so I have some questions:

1. The Term "PRB" is used quite a bit on this forum, what does it mean?

2. It seems that many of the Pro and Club Rally cars in the US have the same logos to the bottom corners of their number backings. Is the SCCA sponsored by these companies or do these companies just sponsor lots of people? (They seam to be all in the engine consumables field)

Well hope that keeps some people busy for a minute or two.

Thanks,

It stands for Pro Rally Board, a volunteer group of folks who elect each other to positions, the major qualification being you pass some sort of undefined popularity test.
As far as anyone knows, there is no test of any sort of competence* in any specific area that one may immediately assume, there is no recall procedure, no term limit, no checks or balances, no accountability.

They are instructed to not respond to any Query here on the SS Forums, and somehow have enough time to answer every trivial inquiry but not broader ones.

It is clear that some of the board members believe their job is not to administer the sport and adjudicate potential, and actual conflicts but to cook up rules based on their own whim**.

OOOOoooppps!
These stickers for these products are part of a compulsory set of stickers which are called the VIP something "Visual Identity Package" and represent some sort of back room, under the table deal, by somebody with somebody else which nobody has any idea what the details are except that you must buy the package for $125 Amerikanskij ($15,000 -20,000 Canukistan People's Respublika Moosebackskis)(sorta like baksheesh, nyet?) and you don't get a penny back from the listed products or any discount
or free product
or any benifit,
except rude threatening Notices from the PRB honcho saying crap like "cars without the VIP stickers meticulously applied in rigid jack booted precision in exactly the right order will be taken out and geschossen! ooops, will not be allowed to....."
and then of course allowing teams to proceed without the stickers in the right exacting order.

If you really want a juicy scandal, I mean other then the continual ongoing WILD WEST Mysteriously Disappearing Pentalty and Resulting Cover-Up Scandal, then the details of the sticker deal, what was given to who and what terms and when they expire, what account the dough went into (No fooools, not individual pockets, into SCCA general fund, or PR department, and where after that...).

See you canajians are the last holdout of the half-red failed socialistiskij federativ republik theory, I know that you guys actuall give out cash and mechandise even in your regional events, and I believe you guys are doing it primarily to spite and shame the SCCA Pro Rally Series, you know the PRO series where there is no prize fund,
where the important question is being raised again and again:

IF WE'RE SO PRO, THEN WHERE IS THE DOUGH?

Is the SCCA sponsored by these companies or do
>these companies just sponsor lots of people?
not in the SCCA pro rally series!!

*that is not a suggestion or an allusuion that anybody on the PRB is, or ever has been, or ever might be in any way anything other than competent.

**See 5 event rule, the 20 year and decreasing to whatever age rule, the cat rule, the "I want to remove the weight advantage of using Chrome Moly tubing, so I decided to up the wall thickness to be the same as ordinary steel" rule,

Some of these are PR Director previous single handed initiatives but rubber stamped by PRb, the last listed is own initiative of a PRB member.

Who do I talk to about getting some "Chicks dig the co-driver" stickers included in the VIP for next year? I'll give everyone the same discount off any product that Fram and Hawk give you...

Now John, remember you take the red pills in the evening and the purple pills in the mornings...

Oi! Are you sure? We're all in trouble now!

BTW Comrade Kean, the next CCCP meeting will be a planning one with, er somewhat less beer drinking involved, you're up for it?

It was decided that more frequent meetings are desired.

lets see...is it the red pill or....

What I want to know is, would I get through tech with some

I do not use----------> SUNOCO
I do not recommend----> HAWK
This product blows----> FRAM

stickers on the "unprotected" part of my car? Im going to try, I tell you that much, and since its the "unprotected" space on the car I want to see them try to stop me.

This really burns my a$$ that I spent 20 years racing motorcycles and I NEVER, EVER put a sticker on my bike/self unless I was getting money or free stuff. Now I am going to be forced to run stickers for products that I not only dont get anything from, but I dont even USE.

Well I'm glad I chose those two topics. I did get some laughs out of your responses, well quite a few actually. Keep it up!

I had the intention of not "starting something" from now on the forums but my plan has back fired. My inocent mild mannered questions have been upheeve by the Devil him self }> Oh well, as you were...

RE: lets see...is it the red pill or....

Its already a'blaze so....

At my last race, we put on a couple stickers. I won't name the actually companies.

1. Some Bison farmer sticker - Banquet food was donated by the farmer
2. Auto Parts Store - Free "care packages" in a draw where almost every team got something. 30% dicount to competitors. Got me home cheap when my water pump blew.
3. Racing Wholesaler - I won a $100 coupon from them for "Last DNF of the Race".
4. We have contigencies so free tires for first in class competitors
5. We have a 12x6inc decal that has all the club sponsors and we get discounts and deals from them.

I'm pretty happy so far. I put on a little decal and so far, I have made $200 in product for just competing in the events.

Alright, I have blasted your system enough. Please go light on me :+

Cheers,

WRONG! It stands for Performance Rally Board (i.e. for Pro- and ClubRally), despite the fact that some of its actions over the last few years seem to imply that it thinks it is only the Pro Rally Board.

I know, if I don't like it, I should apply to be on it... ;-)

And what makes you think we are even interested in considering having any Canookski's on our Performance Rally Board, Adrian? No voice of reason allowed. :D

Nope. How about just to the right of the "protected space" on the front fender?

If someone wants to legitemately make the stickers, figure out how much it cost, I might be able to find a sponsor...

First I love the idea of this large sticker in the unprotected area.

However 3.4.B states "commercial advertising in good taste is allowed in the unprotected areas". I guess this is open and broad enough that if those who make decisions felt like it they could fail you in tech.

You only have to carry these stickers at Pro events (entered as Pro only or dual entry 3.5.A and .B) and if there is a place that someone will have a humor failure it will be Pro. Club-rally (even club only entries at Pro events) does not require any of the VIP parts to be used, it is just encouraged.

OK, so I was bored today...

John - When is the next meeting?
