I put this in the Vintage section as well ;-)

We have managed to get photos of 19 of the past 29 Rocky winners.

Hey, if Bill westhead is lurking around here, check out the page with previous winners (look about halfway down on the right hand side).

I don't know if you have many photos of the corolla but there is another one just to let you and Ted know, and Martin for that matter.

Its amazing that is what looks like a 20 year old photo but the car looks virtually the same as it does now.

Anyway, I though that was pretty cool.

Cheers,

PS. Who ever the is doing the web-development for the Rocky Website, the menu's and photo links are not functioning on Mac's. I don't know how many of us out there are using Mac's (probably just me), but just letting you know.

...driving the custom car "Pegasus III".

Philip: the rules were changed after Pegasus came along exploiting a loop-hole that didn't specify coachwork was required..ore somthing like that. I think it's based on a Pontiac Fiero.

Chad: Yeah, looking at the car, this could just as easily have been Ted and I last year at PFR on the stage that looks like Cyprus or Greece.

Yeah you know Bill, you are probably right. I don't think they had Hella Lights like those 20 years ago. Maybe I should have payed a bit more attention to the photo.

My bad, but do have you seen any photos of when it was in action in the 80's? Ted must have some photos, after all, he makes some of his living off stuff like that.

Cheers,

These links might interest you...scans of old Autosport Canada articles with photos. I've just recently got myself a copy of Adobe Acrobat, so I will be making PDF's of the dozens of old article scans I have, and posting them on my website. I'll let you all know when they are up. Articles include a Taisto article, PFR, Trail of the Bison Rally (Winnipeg), Rocky Mtn, lots of "Rallysport" columns (things haven't changed a bit regarding series politics, sponsorships, etc.). Note: 7th place in the Rocky Mtn results for the 1978 year - codriver "Shawn Bishop" - is that the one and only?

(Sorry these links are going to show the photo in the thread...I can't get them to just link)

Actually the drivetrain is Isuzu Impulse AWD Turbo and it was built to the limit of the rules - which have since changed. I think Art still has it at Race City somewhere.

With Tim driving it was very quick!

Hey Warwick - Cool! I have those mags at home as well.

Maybe I shouldn't answer that question to keep my secrecy LOL.

But ..... yup that was me! - my first Rocky as a competitor. My first Rocky was in 1976 when I rolled my Corolla going to a checkpoint - and I'm still hangin' around.

Well - Sort of ;)

Penrose's car was the second one built by the Nixon's. It was suppose to be the next seasons car and faster... but never really got completely finished.

It was around Calgary for a number of years - even was donated to and raffled off by SAIT (tech school), and won by a CSCC club member.

Long history in that car!

(edit)The first one was written off in a crash at Mountain Trials - rolled it at the finish line of a stage right in front of the service area and all the crews (White Lake I think). Spectacular crash!
