Brilliant!! 70 cars much like the SCCA Group5 (high horsepower RWD) will drive in the WRC Finland. TONS of entertainment value for the spectators. So cool - now that's my idea of a good time. And they are very smart to include, rather than exclude, these "old" cars that might not fit in with a polished "image"

Man, if we had those kind of fields and those kind of cars spectator numbers would shoot through the roof. IMO people would much rather see tail-out flat-out mayhem than a bunch of shiny new cars puttering around. Actually its not an opinion, just go spectate a rally and listen to people's reaction - nobody cars if its a 510 or a WRX, they just want to see it sideways and get showered with gravel. And more spectators = REAL sponsorship opportunities = growth and goodness for the whole sport.

Anyway, props to Finland rally organizers for having their heads on straight.

i agree that the average speccie that we are trying to get doesnt care what they see just as long as its loud sidways and spraying them w/gravel.
diggins and ramana got the same reaction at the ofpr rallyfest as jim cox did in his crazy v-8 "bluck" last summer. why? see above.
the problem is the bulk of the people that can afford to rally here dont want old rwd cars. we need to find a way to et alot of these cars going. the g222 thing was a interesting idea but where did it go? i think g5 is the way to go. the car i have now would be g5. if i could afford to build it. but it would be fwd. i like the ford/merkur thing wish they werent all shot around here. i cant afford to buy a car more than 1 day round trip away.
