Chris Greenhouse and Ryan Scott scored a convincing win at the McCreary Gravel Rally. The Dodge Neon SRT4-powered team took the lead on the first stage and proceeded to take the overall win on every single stage of the event. The clean-sweep victory came despite the fact that they compete only in the 2WD class, not the AWD class.
"We've had some excellent rallies in the past, but probably none of them were as successful as this one" said an ecstatic Greenhouse after the event. "We led from start to finish, we won every stage, and took the win with a 2WD car. Its hard to do better than 1st!"
The team's biggest challenge actually came on the drive to the event as their service van suffered mechanical problems during the tow and delayed their arrival by hours.
"The only other real problems that we had were a puncture on Stage 5 in which the tire didn't go flat until after the stage ended and we were on the transit to Stage 6. I don't know how we got so lucky" said codriver Ryan Scott after the event. "We also suffered a loss of turbo boost right near the end of Stage 6 which hurt our stage time, but only a little bit. Special thanks go out to the Audi team of Nick Bragg and Dominic Depaoli for offering us some ad hoc assistance with our turbo problem."
The Platto Motorsports team will head West next to the Rocky Mountain Rally in Invermere BC, Canada for the 2nd round of the Canadian Rally Championship, where they currently sit in 2nd place in the points.
