Hosting the Widget Rally Team:

Best Western Alpine Lodge
833 West Main
Gaylord, MI 49735
989-732-2431

(click onto the Sno-Drift rally website and go to lodgings in the Otsego County site and you can click onto their website from there).

They are going to do a competitors/media/spectator/volunteers rate for the rally:

Thursday January 29th, 2004 $55.00 single or double occupancy
Friday, January 30th, and
Saturday, January 31st, 2004 $75.00 single or double occupancy

Julie Kettlewell said, "When folks call in, you just need to ask for the Sno-Drift ProRally rate."

Any problems just ask for Julie Kettlewell...a very nice person who will help you with any thing you need...they will have spaces available for situating your car on the lot. They are gearing up for the rally so check out their website.

This is the great thing about the rally community!

If the organizers have not gotten to it, a proactive team jumps in to help out.

After Montmorency County is full (probably a few spots in Hillman left) Gaylord is the best place to stay.

This agrangement has the full support of at least the RallyMaster and I dare say the S*D organizing committee as a whole.

Anybody else want to help coordinate anything? We consider all good ideas!

Gotta admit that we posted this for two reasons: 1) to help out our fellow competitors and 2) to promote one of our sponsors.

When you call the BW Alpine Lodge, would you tell them you were referred by the Widget Rally Team?

Thanks!

I would think that competitors and crew would want to support businesses that support the rally. In this case, the Best Western is sponsoring a competitor. If the motel does well on rally weekend, they and their neighbors may sponsor additional competitors in the future. We can't afford to wait for imaginary "National Sponsors".

Yes....you have to get out there and try to get sponsors; whether small or big scale. I helped Mike Halley to come to Rim 03 with a sponsor that helped paved the way for him to win his group championship. Now... I am helping Widget with their expenses. It is a lot of hard work and know how to deal with rejections, but you may go one step backwards and then it happens you get a sponsor one step forward.
I did this for the Red Bull team (Formula One)long time ago and still help out now and then to find sponsors. What I am saying no matter what motorsport you partcipate in as a team or a single person doing the circuit...you need to try to see about getting sponsors to keep your expenses down as much as possible or you will see not being able to finish out the season due to no money left.

There are several NASCAR teams that are not coming back this coming season due to not being able to find a title sponsor. It does make life a little bit easier and not having to worry from one event to another if the buck is going to stop there.

So good luck to the coming season to all teams Pro or Club or small event competitors. Stay safe and enjoy your season.

Jim Konkler and myself and the True Shot Video team just got the last two cabins at the Elk View Cabins about 15 miles out of Atlanta. The cabins we stayed at last year in Lewiston are closed for the season according to the owner. He was a bit of a pain to deal with anyways. Can't remember the name of the place, but Matt Johnson's team and the Purzyckis stayed there last year as well.

Hey if anyone needs a room I think they have some rooms left at Best Western Alpine Lodge and like I said...Julie is given out competitors rate. Just tell them you are for the competitor rate for Sno-Drift ProRally. They love to have you! Also tell them what kind of trailer you have so that they can accomadate for your needs.

I will call her tomorrow and find out what she has left and tell you what is left in rooms.
