Anyone know anything about this rally, or who might have been in car #26 (or even what it was)? I'm looking at the rally plate in front of me (which I've just added to my 1961 and 1968 Canadian Winter Rally plates which have pride of place among my wall plaques!)

That would be the second running of Golden West, the first was on May 17-18 1958. I too would be interested in any information on the early Golden West events. I've located the original route and we are thinking of rerunning it on the 50th anniversary.

Bill,

What type of 50th Aniversary rally are you thinking about? Stage, or TSD? Which Province(s)?

It would be a TSD, with a historic class if there was interest. (We plan to contact the Triumph, MG, Alfa, Lotus, etc. clubs of course) It may be a SCCA National Tour or just a PCA-SVR event as their annual Carrera de Sierra Rallye. It runs from Sacramento CA to Klamath Falls (South Central Oregon) and back over two days.
