GM has sold 10% of Subrat to Toyota and is selling its other 10% on the market.

I think we are all going to be spared more Sabbarus.

Unlikely to have any effect on the Rally programs at the companies, I would like to see Toyota back and GM still owns part of Suzuki.

yaay.

this means that GM can't stick Subaru with yet another badge-engineered version of its dreadful TrailBlazer SUV.

or screw up another refreshingly original brand like they did to Saab.

or commit any one of 279 other generic GM automotive sins to one of rallying's favorite car lines.

Ooooooh.... I'm being solicited for my opinion. I'm gettin' that warm and fuzzy feeling. There's one problem: my rally crystal ball clouded up after SCCA dumped rally. What went before that was so clear a monkey could have read the writing on the wall if the gorillas hadn't been trying to hide it with a smokescreen. Since then I no longer have a sense of what is going to happen. Had you told me last year that some rich guy (Doug Havir) was going step in and spend money to keep it going, I would have said you were nuts.

Does GM dumping Fuji stocks mean anything to rally here? I dunno.

Does it have any relationship to hybrids? I dunno that either.


Unrelated to Subaru I have a reminder caution for you guys: Have a "plan-B" (whatever it is). If, hopefully not, Doug Havir goes broke, gets ill, etc, etc... you need to have a plan-B in place and/or find out from Doug if there is some line of succession to keep rally going.

Then there is NASA too...... What are their long-term plans?

I think rally should keep some ties with SCCA (if that is possible).

Plan B - rally in Canada
Plan C - Rally in Mexico
Plan D - Rally in other bits of the world slightly farther away
Plan E - karts, Dirt Track, etc

Actually there does seem to be an on going agreement between RA and SCCA. See the RA forums.

SCCA wasn't the problem. I can tell you what people were the problem, but for my 1000th post I will spare everyone. It's all water under the bridge now.

A thousand posts: I wonder what my prize is :)

Doesn't SCCA own the rights to "ProRally", "PRORALLY", "Prorally", "STPR", "LSPR", etc? I thought there was something a few years back with SCCA suing an organizer over the use of a name.

The SCCA doesn't do anything unless they can make a buck on it...

I don't remember the details, but John Nagel told me about some legal BS he was having with SCCA and the name "Olympus Rally" (or something like that). SCCA sucks.

Oh wait... I've seen the new Legacy on the road. Thought it was a new generation Avalon. I guess that answers my question.
