Here'sa a little tune that some of us here at JVAB aka the Ford asylum all have sung at various times when we're working on all the cars around here, it puts things in perspective.
I dedicate this to all the boys who get all huffy and angry, and tonght especially Kevin Gp5 Hahn

The Galaxy Song

Composers: Eric Idle & John Du Prez
Author: Eric Idle
Singer: Eric Idle
From the Movie 'The Meaning of Life'

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour,
That's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned,
A sun that is the source of all our power.
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour,
Of the galaxy we call the 'Milky Way'.

Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars.
It's a hundred thousand light years side to side.
It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick,
But out by us, it's just three thousand light years wide.
We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point.
We go 'round every two hundred million years,
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe.

The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whizz
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know,
Twelve million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth.

I like Chinese.
I like their tiny little trees,
Their Zen, their ping-pong, their yin, and yang-ese.)

Holy Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet !

The Grumposaurus Maximus is getting all soft and mushy.
I knew it would happen one day but I wasn't expecting it to happen so soon :-( :-( :-( :-( .

Beware folks this is what getting married does to an old salt.

What's next ? Is he going to start poetry writing, start collecting post cards instead of Cosworth bits ? What if he starts getting connected with his inner self ? What if he stops drinking tea and switches to herbal teas ?

I'm getting depressed, very depressed.

Cheers

Gee Glenn,
I just played that for my wife, I am trying to get her up to speed on the US values and culture and the songs of Mr Idle have been "quite helpful" in understanding the nuances of the US scene.

Really, seriously now, thanks for posting that.
As usual, humour illustrates points maybe best of all.

John this is defintly a great song but well I'm partial to the Cramps song "Bikini Girls with Machine Guns" the image is more than any man can resist. Also we should not worry about John no longer collecting cosworth bits - I hear cosworth bits are more addictive than crack.

Hmmm.... "Bikini Girls with Machine Guns"

Was this the follow-up to Nick Rivers' "Skeet Surfin'"?

RE: Bloody Hell ...

Mike the thread isn't about the wonderful movie "The Meaning of Liff", its a response to those who say I only make ccomplaints and never offer anything positive here on SS and as you yourself have suggested, that I should be banned from SS.

The latest is a kid from Boulder, who eerily like several others who seem really to be piiisssed off, is not yet, it seems, a rally guy AND fancies himself an amature photographer (and he can snap some good ones, I looked).
Now I have said that contained in a _good complaint_ CAN be the clear suggestions of what the problem is and describing a problem clearly CAN offer, to those who know how to read, suggestions to problems.

2 examples might help.

Typical beginner kid complaint: "DOOoooooooD, this sucks"

John wry critique: The governance of our sport is buggered and a poor joke becausethe PRB doen't weild any real power, and in any case without any stinking checks and balances and their unelected status, there is a problem there anyway....".

See there is suggestion in the very nature of the way things are phrased.
Granted it takes a rudimentary reading or maybe comprehension llevel to get that but it is consistantly there.

And this thread was just a pleasant rejhoinder to the kid I didicated it to.

Clarifications

I'll try to keep this as civil as possible.

Once you get paid I guess you can't be called an amatuer but thank you for the kind words.

I go to school in Boulder, I prefer not to live there, only when classes are going on do I in fact live there. My guess is you had a conversation with Josh, although what do I know.

We have very different approaches to things. You like to be extremely critical and want to change everything and think everything is buggered (the fish that swims against the school).
I would rather capitalize on what positive things we have and use those as much as possible and while exploiting those things work hard to improve the short comings (swimming with the school while trying to turn them). You don't see the positive and want to change everything, I see the positive and would rather use and promote the piss out of it and quietly and steadily work on and fix the little things. In poker as in life, when you don't get a great hand hold and work the best cards you got and try to get rid of the garbage and build towards a great hand.

You can call me "not a real rally guy" all you want. You have an opinion, but as equal as your right to have an opinion is my right to have a different one. I do whatever I can to promote and work towards creating a healthy rally environment for my friends and others to be a part of.

Say what you like about reading abilities, but when you neatly bury hints of actual positive suggestions amid an overtly disproportional rant of complaints your little gems of positive thought become over shadowed. This overshadowing covers your attempt at a productive and positive suggestion as either sarcasm or a further complaint. The greatest shortcoming of the internet is that if you don't know someone all you can do is take a post at face value, you lose all sense of expression and clear inferrence and are left with just words on a screen.

If I some how managed to offend you maybe you are the one that needs to sit back and re evaluate your reading abilities.
