I have always thought the DSG would make a sweet rally transmission, but I always thought they were not legal due to the mechanically assisted shifting?

Yeah, groping around on the floor then figuring out some whacked out pattern sucks. Don't know how you do it.
But what are the ratios, man? the Ratios?

John, I will bring one down to you some day. That twin clutch 6spd is magic! It is trully amazing how fast the shifts are.

Bwrrr-POP-Brwrrrrrrrr!

It has the Audi/VW Direct Shift Gearbox, aka dual clutch transmission. It basically has paddle shifting. For those not familiar, it is like two transmissions side-by-side. One has 1-3-5 and the other has 2-4-6. Transmission #1 has first gear and the clutch engaged, Transmission #2 has second gear selected with the clutch disengaged. Push the button on the steering wheel and the clutch on Transmission #1 disengages, while the other engages. This results in fast shifts, and a nice WRC-like exhaust pop.

Yeah, parenthood. The Mrs. and I just had kid #2. I am enjoying being a father, but missing rally! So, I will be taking a little hiatus until they are a little older...

Not sure Brian gets on a lot these days. If you are serious, I can go knock on his door as he lives over on the next block from me.

DSG would not be legal in any class in Canada (except possibly Gr5 if you were to argue it was actually an automatic gearbox)

this would probably get a lot more attention if you posted a link to a detailed set of photos. Then again that might lead to the car getting sold, and we all know we only tell our wives that "honestly, it's for sale honey, it is just that nobody is buying it"

What suspension is on the car?
