Per Tony:

How's this for news...... We are having a rally in Ensenada on sunday, May 17. Low key event, $250 entry fee wich includes licenses for both driver and co-driver for the rest of the year ( and we will have 2 more events).

Registration and tech at my place saturday starting at 5 pm. Hang out at the wine bar that night. Meet at Ojos ****** town square (30 miles away) for park expose, first car out at 10:00 am first car finish 3:00 pm. Bitching bbq and awards after event and everyone gets to be at the border in Tecate no later than 9:00 pm. No notes, no recce. Route book only, the way it used to be when rallying was fun.

Knowing a few people who have spent several hours attempting a return to the states waiting for the fine folks at DHS to do their jobs, I'd strongly recommend having a passport, even if it is not technically required.

Jack, you haven't really missed any prior discussions. Since the beginning of the year, when it was decided that the Ensenada Rally wouldn't be part of the CRS championship this year, it's kind of being promoted as just a fun, low-key event. But I know Tony & Eddie know the roads in the area very well, and aim to put on a fun event for all.

Also, I wouldn't let Pete's post above put anyone off. Tecate is a much less busy and better recommended port of entry than TJ, and provided you have a passport or the docs mentioned by Jonathan above, you shouldn't have an issue.

yeah.. I would say passport is highly recommended anytime you leave the good ol' US of A!!

& w0w, this could be the motivation I needed to reassemble the car and get out there - no RA rules I assume (as I am a rookie in a G5 car) and no HANS yet?

I saw Eli ask 'how many stage miles?' but no answer... any rough idea?

60 stage miles.

Basic safety rules, helmet, roll bar, driving suit (single layer is ok). HANS not required, if you want to use one good for you, but I am not telling you to buy one.

Rallying is a dangerous sport and we all know it, at least the drivers and co-drivers know it, the other ones just sit around and come up with BS rules. Accidents happen and I believe it is up to the people inside the rally cars to have the equipment they think is appropriate.

Have your passport and make sure the car and trailer are register to someone in the truck at the time of crossing.

We'll meet at Tecate and I will have you escorted to Ensenada.

Doing route book today so I am leaving my office now on my way to Ensenada.

One more thing. Hotel prices will be $40 dlrs for a single and $50 dlrs for a double, let's see anybody beat that!!!!

These is the third rally we do this year, and we will have 2 more this year. Our hopes are to have a 6 or 7 event championship next year, and keep them all low profile, low cost, fun rallies

This sounds great. Unfortunately it is the fiancees birthday and also the car owner probably wouldn't have time to go down.

Is there even a tentative schedule for the next events?

Great Rally, Great Fun

Having talked to Tony about his earlier rallies, I can assure you that this one will be fun, relaxed AND well-run. It'll be a great warm-up for whatever CRS rally you run next!

So who's in?

Tony, I'll be at a huge off road fair tomorrow, should I be spreading the word about this? Could probably drum up some more entries...

For those thinking about running the Ensenada event, here's a little update.

There are NO cases of swine flu in the entire state of Baja California. We were completely sold out this weekend as were most hotels in the area.

The rally roads are in GREAT shape. We upgraded a single caution to a double caution at an easy left because the rocks on each side are deceptive at speed.

We have 15 local entries so far, and there are several CRS teams running the event. We feel that 20 to 25 entries is a good number for us to handle and ensure everyone has a great time.

A remainder, this is NOT a CRS event.

Send me an e-mail if you want to enter, and I'll let you know the details of when we are meeting in Tecate and driving down together to Ensenada.

Regsitration and tech are at our hotel starting at 5 pm satuday the 16. For those of you not able to make it saturday we will have registration and tech at Ojos ****** sunday at 8:00 am

We only have 11 rooms available, sot hey will be first come first serve, and the rally rate is $40 for a single room and $50 for a double room, a 50% discount of our regular high season rates.

Hey Tony:

What are the local entries like? Are they full spec race cars and what sort of classes do they normally run?
