Got back early from the D1 Grand Prix USA. Crowd had to be around 12,000 plus. Watched the first round and Rhys Millen gave a very good account of himself in a Supra. Crowd was on its feet cheering for all his 3 rounds. Should get through to the next round on his performance. Bumped into Terrdog and Rob Tallini. As Terrdog said, "It's not rallying, but what the hell!" This sport is growing and the crowd hated it when NASCAR was mentioned.

RE: Drifting in Fontana

The most boring thing I have ever been to except NASCAR I wonder how many idiots left the event and tuffed their car into a wall trying to drift? TO answer my question three by 12:30pm in my local canyon. If you thought you saw idiot spectators on transits you should see some of these kids x(

WHile most fans really enjoyed it word from behind the scenes was that it was rigged by yokohama. D1 is kind of the WWF/WWE of racing. IF there are judges then it really isn't racing to me. Incredible skill but not my personal favorite.

Rigged? Who knows. Have to admit, like you, that the skill factor is way up there. Judges? So? Under no stretch of the imagination could this sport be classed as racing. This is pure horsepower, displaying car control at its best. I like it.

#1: We have already found out that Figure Skating is rigged/rigable.

#2: Just think, Get real good at Drifting so you can pick up a tire sponsor, then keep rallying with your new sponsor. These guys have got to go through more tires than we do.

Just a thought:7

Being an Ex-street bike racer/ rider these promoters should look into hiring Gary Rothwell. He's a stunt rider that most of us have seen in movies like Mission Impossible 2 etc. Then again they probably wouldn't want someone "Out Drifting" the factory boys from Japan on two wheels. If you've ever seen Gary in action you know what he is capable of!

I believe the next event is out at Cal Speedway this weekend.

Hey Jim , I think Two Wheel Tuesday did had feature about 4 or 5 weeks ago. Silly me I thought I was somebody becuase once or twice while racing around Willow Springs I levered the back wheel off the ground at 100 mph - BFD. This guy definitly does some pretty wild stuff on two wheels.

How about an 1/8th mile long stoppie ending in a quarter turn back tire drop, dumping the clutch, tire smoking the rest of the 180 turn, blip of the throttle and yank of the bars with rear tire still smoking up into a wheelie all of course with feet still firmly on the pegs. Gary makes the L.V. Extremes look like they ride tri-cycles with training wheels! www.garyrothwell.com check it out!
