In the June fast track there was and ad for the following;
"Immediate positions available for Divisional Performance Rally Safety Stewards and seats on the National Performance Rally Safety committee"

Hijacking a quote from another current thread;

In the meantime, there are several open posts that need filling such as Divisional Safety Stewards, Deputy ClubRally Stewards, RallyCross Divisional Stewards... all of whom directly participate in improving the programs.

Has anyone gotten involved or heard of any new stewards or anything? Inquiring minds want to know }>

Yes...Pat and I (Denise) McMahon are being trained to become Divisional safety stewards. We will be going up to the Mt Hood Rally in Oregon that is going to be held Oct. 25th. We will be seeing what we can do to help the program from a competitors/organizers prospective. Since both of us are co-organizers on Rim of the World and help on other rallys (Treeline, Gorman, Laughlin, etc.), and Pat competed in Pro Rallys for over 15 years and help instruct newbies (drivers) at Hockers and Gibeault's rally driving schools.

CenDiv had a RallyCross Steward for a while, but he had to resign. RallyCross is big enough here that it needs its own steward.

I've been training some rallycross and ClubRally safety stewards. This is largely a grassroots effort.

Greg Healey has resigned as NEDiv ClubRally Steward effective Dec. 31, so there will be a new person there.

Why do you ask...are you interested?

I'm not sure? I sent an e-mail initially (in the May time frame) indicating interest and my background and got 1 response indicating that things were hectic because of the happenings and STPR coming up (understandable). Since then I've heard nothing and was wondering if anyone else had a similiar experience. Another typical SCCA situation if I must say so?

Just curious... what all is involved in being a divisional safety steward? A better way to put it would be, what are the job duties? It sounds interesting.

Denise, the weather is supposed to be pleasant this weekend in the forests around Mt. Hood! :) See you this weekend!

Every ClubRally has to have a safety steward assigned. This person is charged with checking all areas of the rally for safety...particularly spectator areas and stage layouts, but not limited to these. He/she works with the event steward and the organizer before and during the event. The safety steward has also come to be responsible for tracking down incident reports.

Contact Lyn Nelson, the National Performance Rally Safety Steward for details. I don't have an email address handy, but she should be reachable via the SCCA web page.
