As the final event, perhaps the hardest event with the best competition in the States since the 1986 Olympus in terms of International competition, an event with the most variable weather and roads conditions kicks off, I think we all should pause and send a few thoughts to the man whose untiring work this year has made the results of this event, before the event is even finished, already impossible to judge what they will mean.
As the investigation of exactly what occured at Wild West after the paltry penalties was lifted drags on for over a month, when the crews that have worked to get to this event finish this weekend, they will still have no idea what their seasons final tally will be.
I have only competed at Lake Superior Pro Rally once but that one event and the exciting finish there has made it a favorite, especially as it was my first time, the conditions were so difficult, and the result pretty good, as well as the friendly and ethusiastic people and students in Houghton were also a big part of the fun.
So I wish all the competitiors and crews and the organisers and workers all the best and hope to see you next year....
In a year not marred by repeated interferance by the same individual again and again and by highly questionable Disqualifications, and actions unresolved which leave the meaning of the results of the exciting finalé up in the air.
Congratulations, Kurt! for a guy who boasted you "have the chops to get the job done" you've really gotten the job done, the only question is what job is it?
Who is on the committee investigating?
What are the points being investigated?
Will the relevent documents be available for review, if not why not?
What is the proposed action to reapply appropriate penalties? DQ? Zimmer was DQ on less publicly observed grounds?
What was the exact nature of the penatlies being lifted?
Document?
What will be done to prevent future subversions, perversions, and reversions of the rule book by SCCA Officials?
Oh, Kurt, any truth to the allegation that you signed Doc Scrader's name to the document lifting the penalties at WW as has been alledged?
Your credibility is being called into question by more than just me, Kurt.
We await your response.
