Hi I hope you don't mind me starting a thread on this but it was raised in another thread and thought it deserved it's own.

International licence holders can compete on events that are NEAFP (National Events Allowing Foreign Participation)

This list used to be held by the FIA but is now held by the local ASN's. Events pay a subscription to their ASN, in my case the MSA, and they allow non Nationals to compete on the events.

If the event is an International you can automatically compete on it if you hold an International event.

The area I've not clarified is whether you can compete with a non International licence, (e.g. US National Licence) but I think the answer is no, but if the licence is a national licence issued by a EU ASN, e.g. France/Belgium/Spain etc and has the EU flagand the event is in NEAFP list you can. Does that make sense?

The UK NEAFP list is http://www.msauk.org/uploadedfiles/msa_forms/2010_NEAFP_Calendar.pdf

Sadly it doesn't have many events on it for the rallyist.

Hello Bryan,

What events are you looking to do? I've done events in many parts of the world and never really had any issues with the license. In most cases the organizers are willing to help anyone compete.

How was the Dukeries? This was one of my favourite events when I used to compete in the BTRDA back in the 90's. I used to be in the MDMC based in Heage....

I'm not looking to compete abroad at present, I've managed 13 different countries plus the home nations (I'm off to Wales tomorrow to do the Quinton which is on the Rally GB stages). Although I'm planning on going back to Barbados for the Rally Carnival as not done it for a few years (7?)

I'm afraid you've just named my least favourite BTRDA round with the Dukeries as they unfortunately have some of the worst surfaced (sandy) stages in the UK and they just wash board up in the braking zones and have a build up of sand on the exit. Plus the majority of the corners are 90's.

I didn't manage to do the event anyway as my driver is/was suffering from a broken arm but I took my suit and helmet just in case and did some spectating instead.

Now the Quinton on Saturday is one of my most favourite events as it's classic welsh forestry but the weather is an unknown as there is rumour of rain (well it is Wales) but we're in the middle of heatwave at present.

I built and drove a MK2 Escort in the BTRDA silver going to nearly all the events (Quinton too) then rolled it and did the following years BTRDA Gold champioship in an 2.0 MG Maestro which I shipped out to Dubai in 1994 to do the Mid East Championship with Howard/Ruth Patterson, Simon Nutter, Ben Coles etc.

The bloke organizing the BTRDA was Howard ??? he knows me. I was running a Remploy sponsored car. Enjoy the Quinton

Yeah I remember the Dukeries sand back in the early 90's hahahaha

I'd love to have done more in the ME, I've only rallied on stages in Jordan and Turkey and loved Jordan and the desert.

Howard Wilcock is still running, or part running, the BTRDA Championship and I'll see him tomorrow at signing on.

I'm out in a decent spec Mk2 at the weekend on only my drivers third event, instructions are to finish but he's a competitive sod and may have other ideas.
