Why is there no 'ClubRally' primary interest on the SCCA membership renewal applications to designate our membership money towards ClubRally?

There is a ProRally primary interest checkbox. There is a distinction between ProRacing and ClubRacing. But no ClubRally.

With the further expansion between Pro & Club, why would ClubRallist want their money donated toward the manufacturer's series they can't compete in? ClubRally is not getting the attention or funds it needs and by not renewing our memberships until we can actually designate our funds for 'ClubRally', will it change.

Those check boxes have EVERYTHING to do with where the money goes! They do not influence where the various sponsors' money goes. The sponsors determine that. However, your dues represent "sponsorship". Your indication(s) of interest on the renewal form is(are) used to allocate dues when budget time rolls around. I would suggest crossing out all choices and writing in Club Rally. Make it all caps, in red. Also, never check more than one selection unless you want your money to be split among the interests.

JB and all,

I am sorry but Uncle Joe is right in reply #2. That is unless it has changed since I last inquired.

It has also been my understanding that the box means EVERYTHING about where the money goes. The box should be renamed "Performance Rally" as ProRally, ClubRally and RallyCross are all managed by the Performance Rally Department (PRD).

In the mean time, check the proper box so we ALL Club/Pro/Cross get our share of the membership dollars.

Please don't check some other box out of spite...

In the mean time, I'll pass along to SCCA Admin that the checkbox is out of date (several years!).

No, a ClubRally box should be added.
ClubRally membership funds should go to ClubRally, not to support the 30 or so remaining teams in the manfacturer's ProRally series that even the manufacturers are complaining is too expensive.

Exacty right.
Add a box.

And don't renew until the last possible moment.

Do you think the membership worker sitting there in Topeka is going to allocate your money to something they do not know about?

I just returned all 4 of my recent membership renewals without payment with a note in the comment/suggestion section saying to 'Add ClubRally". When they do, I will consider renewing my membership.

No ClubRally results in SportsCar but regional roadrace results are posted.

ClubRally division champions no longer listed in Performance Rally Rulebook.

Simple and free 'give-me's' to please and appease me for my ClubRally membership/license money are being overlooked and directed to ProRally. Fix them or don't get my money.

This is an interesting assertion. Do you have anything to back it up? This is not the impression I have.

ProRally costs

Just that someone from one of the remaining manufacturer teams said the manufacturer has no more money. Wonder what it'd be like to see what would happen to ProRally if another manufacturer pulled the plug on their ProRally program. Pretty gloomy.

Perhaps they should start paying attention to non-members
and their reasons for not being members. SCCA might
particularly pay attention to those who have cancelled
or not renewed their memberships during the past few years.

That assumes SCCA cares about anything but the privileged few.

This is a continuing debate at both the local and national level. Membership retention is very important.

Just what I like...a solid, verifiable source. And this fact, even if true, was blown into:

Ain't Special Stage a wonderful place?

In fact, they do...and they encourage the Regions to do the same. Retention is, in fact, up the last few years.

Attend a National Convention...you find out all sorts of neat things.

Bruce:

I know that our local region gained some numbers from the Subaru "Buy a WRX and Get Free SCCA Membership" deal, but very few if any seem to be re-upping. Do you have any numbers on retention of those members? Did their free memberships skew the numbers upward on the retention rates?

Additionally, it seems that we are losing members with the demise of the Speed Freakz program. Any info on the impact of the discounted Speed Freakz memberships on retention numbers? What about retention of those members?

This is what I am seeing on a local level. Just curious, since I wasn't at the convention.

The retention rate on the Subaru free memberships wasn't very good, if I remember correctly...it certainly wasn't better than the rest of the club. It benefited from the fact that many Subes were bought be people who were already members, intended to remain so, and used the freebie as a renewal.

In general, the Regions dropped the ball on this, as most of them ignored these folks completely. Some regions took the opportunity, and have seen them re-upping at the normal rate.

Speed Freakz, IIRC, had pretty good retention numbers.

The new program was just announced at the last convention, and took affect May 31, I think. You're going to lose a few members, as the old program went to age 26, while the new one goes only to 21...many of those in the gap are still broke. Most of the Speed Freakz Competition members I know about merely grumbled and re-upped as regular members...they're already hooked...
