I answered "Other motorsport" because I think it relates more to my being a Rally competitor, but I have raced mountain bikes competitively as well...

Interesting to see the lack of competitive snowboarders...based on Kurt's comments.

However, I do snowboard, mountain bike, wakeboard, and skateboard. (edit: not competitively)

I would be interested to see what the breakdown within "other motorsports" is. I'd guess as many motorcycle as other forms of auto motorsport.

As recreation, or as competition? Just curious.

Other competition

I could have said Other motorsport (road rally), but if going back a little further Other non-specified (racing windsurfers) fits better.

Is windsurfing part of the 'lifestyle' in question?

Not if its you on the board.:+

Please note that Mr. Spitzner referred to "competitive" forms of the above. Sure, I ski, I mountain bike, but I do it for fun (just as 100,000s of folks do). I have not done races in either discipline (except in ski school when I was 5 years old).

But I harken to say that I am not part of the "Do the Dew" generation.

Both, I ski raced the 4 downhill disiplines and have raced skier crosses, I also raced DH and DS for mountain biking. I have switched my competitive focus to rally now, but who knows, maybe I'm make a come back in those other sports.

I did actually race the things in the late 80's to early 90's (not very well, I hasten to point out :().

Actually he doesn't refer to competitive forms of the above

"Most of our new competitors are coming from snowboarding, skiing or mountain bikes into rally," says Pro-Rally series Director Kurt Spitzner. "We've surveyed them and the broad opinion is that rally is a "lifestyle" activity, rather than being perceived as an alternative to racing

Motorcycle Roadracing - 1993 National Champion 'D' Superbike

Beat Nicky Hayden like a red-headed stepchild in the wet at Road Atlanta during my 15 minutes.

Tried surfing once, hated it.....

I used to race sailboats in college and high school, so I had to answer "other." I mostly did one-design dinghy sailing (Lasers) but I have done some short handed ocean racing as well.

Not that new either...
Dad was the President of the local 1/4 midget club which had both a dirt and a paved track. My best friend and I would take our brother's cars and race each other after the regular races because we weren't old enough.
Besides being involved with 1/4 midgets, land speed record holding teamate, off-road racing etc. etc. I grew up on the real Northcoast of California and had a passion for racing Hobie 14's and did quite well.

I used to compete in snowboarding...

But I've been snowboarding for 15 years, and was competing in that
before the term "extreme" came to describe it, so I'm not sure if
that counts as crossover. ;)
